1123
[edit]Doclinis says fu anche presente nelle prime esperienze di concistori tenuti in occasione di sinodi: in particolare, il 31 marzo 1123, in corrispondenza del concilio di Reims. I am unsure what this means. Perhaps a Lateran consistory received the acts of the council of Reims of 1119? Srnec (talk) 03:29, 8 September 2021 (UTC)
- I am aware that you only Google translated it and copied it from the Treccani site (I'm not blaming you). But it does not make sense in Italian either. The pope was at the Lateran in 1123, not in Reims, and Deusdedit was in Rome and then (by December) in Spain, not in France. The Lateran meeting in March 1123 was a major council, not an experimental consistory, where the peace treaties of Worms were discussed and accepted. I don't know what Dolcini intended either. Do you think that it is good practice to put in a Wikipedia article something that you don't understand? It doesn't give the reader any useful information.
- IMHO, Dolcini seems to be trying to make Deusdedit do something ("being present at the first experiences (it's plural) of consistories (it's plural)") important through puffery. He is otherwise pretty colorless. I think it should be deleted.
- Yes, I know it is unclear in Italian, because I can read it just fine without Google. (I also know that when you changed the wording to "It is assumed that he was dead", that is not what the source says.) Obviously I thought it was clear enough in 2015. Neither Dolcini nor the present article mention his presence at the Lateran council in 1123 or anywhere else between November 1121 and December 1123. Neither does Dolcini mention the council of Reims in 1119. The holding of an consistory of cardinals does not conflict with the simultaneous holding of the Lateran council, but I have no idea if that is what happened. Sentence removed. - Thanks. I had read through the entire section on the Lateran Council in Mansi, hoping to find his name or a reference to a consistory, and was mildly surprised to find no subscription list. For such an important event, I would have thought that a list of attendees would have been preserved. Also, nothing about a consistory. --Vicedomino (talk) 16:23, 8 September 2021 (UTC)
