Contested deletion

[edit]

This article should not be speedy deleted as being recently created, having no relevant page history and duplicating an existing English Wikipedia topic, because the connection between disability and poverty is extremely significant and certainly merits its own article. Considering the large body of information that can be relayed on the topic it is not feasible to incorporate it into the current articles on disability or poverty. The recognition of this issue is extensive, as seen by the priority given to this relationship by a number of prominent organizations, such as the United Nations and the World Bank. Please take note of the prevalence of this issue and how this article can relay relevant information on a critical topic in a way that cannot be limited to the framework of a preexisting article. Thank you, Avo92 (talk) 04:20, 26 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Another great effort from the Rice gang

[edit]

Please tell your professor we love them. Hoping to assist with wikification of this piece soon. In the meantime, "poverty" should be lowercase because "Disability and Poverty" isn't a proper noun. Great work on an important and overlooked topic. It's also really impressive how well you avoided US bias. Thanks. groupuscule (talk) 08:17, 26 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions

[edit]
  • Images. Here's one on Wikimedia Commons. This umbrella category may be of use. Some graph type images might also be good (and you could make them yourself).
  • Wikilinks!
  • Would be good to include more initiatives. It's okay if they're not trans-national.
  • Relationship of disability rights movement to poverty? Alliances? Friction or exclusion?

Hi Groupusule! Thank you so much for all of your feedback! I plan on editing and expanding the article extensively within the next few weeks, so I will be sure to incorporate this and any other input you may have. I definitely intend to add relevant graphs, wiklinks, and acknowledge that the initiatives section is looking rather sparse at the moment. I love the idea of incorporating the relationship that currently exists or is missing with the disability rights movement, so I will begin research and hopefully find enough information to substantiate a section. Thanks again! I will be sure to post a note when i'm done with my first round of editing to make you aware of any progress. Best, Avo92 (talk) 17:53, 8 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Name dropping

[edit]

There are many places in this article where researchers and other people are simply named without any explanation of their relevance or credentials. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 16:55, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
