PROD

[edit]

Reasons given for deletion are not valid. This coaster is no less important than any of the other rollercoasters that held the record for world's fastest. (Furthermore, deleting this article would break the continuity of "World's Fastest Rollercoasters".) Its information is actually rather complete. Someone who's ridden it just needs to write up a description of the ride experience to follow the model of other coaster pages. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.237.63.213 (talk) 13:24, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the PROD tag for proposed deletion. As mentioned above, this was the fastest rollercoaster in the world when it was built, so could hardly be described as "minor". While the article is little more than stub, being "too short" is not a valid reason for deletion. --DAJF (talk) 13:30, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Top Hat vs Vertical Loop

[edit]

As referenced here and here — and also the opening paragraph text, the ride closed in 2016 for modifications. During that time the sometimes problematic Top Hat was replaced with a vertical loop. The coaster was renamed Do-Dodonpa and re-opened in 2017. The remainder of the ride description was inaccurate. The brake (not break) run occurs before the two turns that lead to the station. It is simply a vertical loop. It is not an Immelmann Loop, Airtime Hill, Cobra Roll or any other type of element that an IP editor has tried to insert into the description.JlACEer (talk) 22:20, 13 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for taking care of that! I've made a few additional tweaks as well to that section, as well as the renovation section. --GoneIn60 (talk) 23:26, 13 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

False Start

[edit]

I removed the text concerning false starts as it has never been cited and does not appear anywhere — aside from the numerous sites that copy wikipedia. The text was added more than a decade ago by an IP editor who appears to be several editors using the same address (possibly a school) and that address has been reprimanded numerous times for adding poorly cited and uncited material. At some point the text (word for word) was picked up by Travel & Leisure magazine, but it appeared to be copied directly from this site. Unfortunately, someone later cited that T&L article — a perfect example of Citogenesis. The original statement about false starts has never been properly authenticated. I've ridden this coaster and I also know a lot of enthusiasts who have ridden it and no one has ever mentioned a false start.JlACEer (talk) 17:37, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Forces!

[edit]

Because momentum = force * time, and momentum is the change in velocity, Do-dodonpa (which goes from 0 to 50m/s (i calculated) in 1.6 seconds) has a net force of 31.25N. This is also the acceleration (31.25m/s/s). With the constant gravity on Earth being 9.81m/s/s, Do-dodonpa pulls 3.186 Gs on the first launch. Perhaps we should add this info into the article (if it clutters up the page, maybe make it a footnote? Evrstz (talk) 17:18, 28 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
