Title of article is inconsistent with content

[edit]

If a frame is defined via the frame condition as described in the article, a frame requires an inner product space. The title of the article, frame of a vector space, is therefore incorrect. I suggest changing it to frame (linear algebra). 128.197.11.204 (talk) 16:36, 6 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Frame of a vector spaceFrame (linear algebra) – As defined in this article, a frame requires an inner product space, not just a vector space. One possible solution would be to rename the article to frame (inner product space), but I think a better solution is to name it frame (linear algebra), which is a name of the field of mathematics in which this topic arises. The page that already exists at that title provides little information beyond disambiguating between "frame" and "k-frame", which is already done by the hatnote at the top of this article. J. I have already merged frame (signal processing) into this article, so all that remains is to move this page to frame (linear algebra), replacing the contents of that page. That will place all the "frame" information there with no significant overlaps, duplication, or confusing article titles.
@Andrewa: Okay, should I incorporate the contents of that page into this article, close that article as merged, move any information about "k-frames" to the k-frames article, then move this article to "frame (linear algebra)"?
  • Comment @J. Finkelstein: @Andrewa: I came to close this discussion, but am not sure how to handle the existing article at 'frame (linear algebra)'. Ping me if you two come to consensus. (If only one of you replies, I will close per their suggestion, unless someone else gets here first.) — kwami (talk) 18:46, 4 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
