Jewish?
[edit]Can anyone cite any sources as to which religion he practiced? It is noted he had a Jewish mother which makes him Jewish under Jewish law but did he actually practice? If so, he would be the second practicing Jewish PM of New Zealand (after Vogel) and one of the few outside Israel. BroadArrow 04:42, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- My understanding is that unlike Vogel he wasn't a pactising Jew. --Lholden 04:52, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
The 1966 Encyc of NZ article on his father says that his mother Margaret Hort was the son of onr of the leading Jews in Wellington (Abraham Hort), and also that she became an "ardent Christian" [1] Hugo999 12:34, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Name
[edit]Surely Francis Bell (politician) is a more suitable name? GiantSnowman 18:32, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
