Frank Horne → Frank M. Horne – Frank Smith Horne is at least as likely to be the search term here. Eddie891 Talk Work 23:31, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:COMMONNAME — subject's professional name was "Frank Horne", not "Frank M. Horne". I would, however, support Frank Horne → Frank Horne (footballer) as well as the creation of Frank Horne disambiguation page which would list Frank Smith Horne (1899–1974), Frank Horne (footballer) (1905–1958) as well as Frankie Horne (born 1983). —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 06:21, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, I would support that as well. Eddie891 Talk Work 13:01, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose as unnecessary. There are only 2 articles. One person was primarily known as Frank Horne and the other as Frank Smith Horne (or Frank S. Horne). A hatnote on this article works just as well as a dab page would. (Frankie Horne was not named Frank or known as Frank, but could be added to the hatnote if anyone thinks it necessary.) - I'd argue that Frank Smith Horne is much more prominent than this Frank Horne and if you want a hat anywhere it should be at Frank Smith Horne pointing to Frank Horne (footballer). The poet is indexed in Caroling Dusk, has an entry in the Encyclopedia of the Harlem Renaissance, is referred to in news columns, and signed letters— all without the 'S.'—which is enough for me to say that he was also known as simply Frank Horne, though it may not have been his primary name. It seems unlikely to me that this AFL player who played in twelve games is more significant-- Eddie891 Talk Work 13:01, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
- There's no question that Frank Smith Horne is more prominent than this Frank Horne. He is. But he is more frequently (not always) cited as Frank S. Horne or Frank Smith Horne than as simply Frank Horne, so his article's title is WP:NATURALLY disambiguated and there is no title conflict, nor any proposal to retitle Frank Smith Horne's article to "Frank Horne". All but one of the cites in his article use Frank S. Horne or Frank Smith Horne. It wouldn't be logical to add a hatnote to Frank Smith Horne's article, because no one would search for the footballer under that name. Making "Frank Horne" a dab page would not benefit anyone, because for the rare reader who lands on the Frank Horne article expecting Frank Smith Horne, the hatnote does exactly the same job that a dab page would, making the dab page unnecessary. - Support Frank Horne (footballer). No real primary topic, so WP:TWODABS doesn't apply. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:46, 19 February 2021 (UTC)
