Articles/CDs/DVDs

[edit]

I propose to remove these sections as overly promotional, especially the CD and DVD listing. Anyone have any objections. Skyerise (talk) 15:20, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I came here from playing The Witness and had never heard or don't think i would ever have heard about this lady if it wasn't for her being featured in the game. A reference like this is already on Connections (British TV series) is already present there and I thought this page might include one aswell?

Grabbed a quick source but unsure how to include it so recording it here.

The Witness builds on this idea in the second of these two videos, which features spiritual leader Gangaji talking about how to achieve peace.

Here's a second source: https://kotaku.com/the-witness-the-kotaku-review-1754919626. The problem is, while "In Popular Culture" sections were once popular across Wikipedia, they're now generally discouraged. Instead, relevant content should get worked into the rest of the article. I'm not opposed to including this, I just can't think of how or where. Thoughts? Woodroar (talk) 23:39, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh that makes sense. Hmm I guess in this specific case a "credit" addition can be added but that feels like a cop-out. The career section is already pretty thin and really doesn't cover her career. Renaming it "Teachings" and including this reference as "her teachings has made it into popular culture through video games such as The Witness leaves room and a way to expand the article further.
Mind you I do believe this is quite a sidenote for her but I can only speak on how I came to be reached by her teachings and find it quite interesting. 2A02:1406:A:FFDF:38E6:8F1E:6873:D7F7 (talk) 01:36, 18 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've added a sentence. I agree that it makes most sense there, with the renamed section. I'm hesitant to say "made it into popular culture" without other appearances, but if more come along we can certainly use that or similar wording. I did a brief search for other pop culture mentions but couldn't find anything. Woodroar (talk) 02:02, 18 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Agree and yeah I got lazy there with the broad stroke... Neat collaboration! Have a good night 😁 2A02:1406:A:FFDF:38E6:8F1E:6873:D7F7 (talk) 02:19, 18 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You as well! Woodroar (talk) 02:33, 18 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Spirituality

[edit]

Hi there,

I corrected the word "spiritualism" to "spirituality" in the sentence describing Gangaji's interest. Spiritualism is defined as "a system of belief or religious practice based on supposed communication with the spirits of the dead, especially through mediums" (Oxford Languages), for which there is no evidence of interest. Whereas spirituality is defined as "the quality of being concerned with the human spirit or soul" (Ibid.), which is consistent with her overall practice as a "spiritual teacher." Good catch there! Woodroar (talk) 02:34, 5 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
