@BeanieFan11:

I reverted to Draft as the rivalry topic currently, clearly fails WP:SIGCOV. There is a lone and great NYT citation. There are also two Bleacher Report and SBNation citations. Both are considered less than ideal sources, see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject National Football League. Draftify allows for improvements to be made to demonstrate notability. UW Dawgs, I reverted this change, as this article is pretty flushed out and fits within a general topic that appears to be notable. See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Cowboys–Packers rivalry. No doubt that the article could be improved, which I will work on in the coming days, but at this point, the article is sufficient for the mainspace. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 15:31, 22 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Gonzo fan2007 and BeanieFan11: Ideally, BeanieFan11 would have incorporated some of the RS citations located in the prior AfD which directly address the rivalry topic's clear and ongoing WP:SIGCOV deficiency, such as those GNG-sufficient found by Ejgreen77[1] before moving this into main space. That said, Ejgreen77 did a stellar job with those citations in the AfD and I no longer contest yesterday's move from Draft. UW Dawgs (talk) 17:34, 22 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I am not quite sure I follow what you are trying to say, but my perspective is that this general topic (i.e. rivalries that are outside of divisions) can meet WP:GNG if there have been a significant number of games played, incuding notable games/events or the teams have played each other for a long time, etc. So although the article wasn't perfect from a sourcing perspective, I thought it easily justifiable that the article covered a notable topic, and was in a good enough condition to warrant mainspace. Articles in the mainspace are more likely to generate interest from other editors and incentivize collaboration and article improvement. This is the case here, as I usually am hesitant to edit a draft article into it goes to the mainspace. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 17:44, 22 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Going Through Some Previous Edits

[edit]

Hey, football fans! I saw that a paragraph about a recent game that was reverted a few months ago and I’d like to see if there is a consensus to add it back. (In accordance to Wikipedia protocol, if there are no responses in a week, I will automatically add it back.) My reasoning for this is that the game was the first time the Giants had won on MNF in over 7 years and greatly established the legacy of Tommy DeVito, who turned into a folk hero for the Giants this past season. If there is a consensus to re-add it, the page would look like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Giants–Packers_rivalry&direction=prev&oldid=1194420905

The paragraph is supported by a laughably large amount of sources, so it seems that only notability is in question here. Thanks! Wranlo (talk) 22:39, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
