Goljak → Gollak – I would like to propose a name change from 'Goljak' to 'Gollak' - by all means, 'Gollak' is the common name in English, and is also the term significantly more frequently used than 'Goljak' in academic sources. It is also favoured in Kosovo by the government and its inhabitants. A search on Google Scholar reveals that 'Gollak' is significantly more popular than 'Goljak':
- Gollak Kosovo = 135 results
- Goljak Kosovo = 53 results
As can be seen by the search results above, 'Gollak' more than doubles 'Goljak' for Google Scholar results, and is thereby the common name. Keep in mind that using 'Goljak' on it's own without 'Kosovo' as a search parameter produces many unrelated results that have nothing to do with the region. - Weak Support. When we restrict our search to English results in the past year, we find Gollak and Goljak produce the same number of results. We find the same thing for Google News (Goljak and Gollak), while Ngrams suggests current usage is also equivalent. However, Gollak saw considerably more usage than Goljak in 2014, and since we need to decide between them that seems as appropriate a metric as any. BilledMammal (talk) 06:06, 7 January 2022 (UTC)
- I would like to point out that the search you provided - Goljak on its own - does not include in its entirety searches which specifically refer to Gollak in Kosovo. There seems to be multiple sources referring to other such ‘Goljak’ terms, hence why the parameter of ‘Goljak Kosovo’ is necessary. - Support per nomination. Goljak - Gollak without the Kosovo clarification produces some false results like Goljak, Croatia[1] and others.--Alltan (talk) 18:13, 7 January 2022 (UTC)
