Sentences in production section[edit]

At the time it was filmed, the movie had the largest painted scenic backdrop ever used in a film. According to an interview with Sir Michael Parkinson, Minnie Driver complained to the press that some members of the crew were urinating in the water tanks.

What do those two sentences have to do with each other? Why are they in the same paragraph? Why is the second sentence phrased like it's a continuation of the first?
