Access
[edit]The article says, "The public used to be able to walk across the top of Hauser Dam (which provided easy access to both sides of the river), but the dam was closed to the public after the September 11 attacks." But access was apparently restored at some point, according to Century of service: Turbines at Hauser Dam to be removed for refurbishing, which says, "Pedestrians may be temporarily prohibited from walking across the dam as equipment is set up and the turbine unit lifted to the waiting truck."
There's also Hauser Dam off-limits to pedestrians during construction, dated Sept 2004, which says "Hauser Dam will be off-limits to pedestrian traffic for the next two weeks... Motorized access across Hauser Dam was halted last summer, reportedly for 'safety reasons.'" — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kendall-K1 (talk • contribs) 00:38, 8 November 2016 (UTC)
- Great. But Wikipedia frowns on drawing inferences from articles, as this constitutes original research. We need to find something that says, "Pedestrian access was restored." It's got to be reported somewhere. - Tim1965 (talk) 14:15, 8 November 2016 (UTC)
- What Tim said. You cannot base changes to the article on what you have observed, nor on things you infer from what sources have said. On Wikipedia, verifiability trumps "the truth" every time. John from Idegon (talk) 23:50, 9 November 2016 (UTC)
- Note that I'm not the one who changed the article to match personal observations. I forgot to sign my previous comment, and have added the sig now. Kendall-K1 (talk) 01:27, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
- I've rewritten it to match the source, but I agree with Tim...There should be something somewhere to verify the observation that it had reopened. Perhaps eliminate it altogether until or unless we find a source for the other end? Realistically, it's out of date WP:RECENT. Everything was locked down after 9/11. John from Idegon (talk) 02:02, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
- I have been unable to find anything about pedestrian access re-opening. I would be fine with removing that entire paragraph. Kendall-K1 (talk) 02:11, 10 November 2016 (UTC)

- It's open, but my sources are blogs. But convincing ones, this one has photos of the people standing there. This one doesn't have dam photos but expressly says you cross the dam to the trail. Also an amateur map. Montanabw(talk) 08:50, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
- Do you think it's necessary to say that it's open to pedestrians, now that we no longer say it's closed? I don't but am open to persuasion, especially if you can find RS. Kendall-K1 (talk) 18:05, 13 November 2016 (UTC)

I think NOTGUIDEBOOK applies. John from Idegon (talk) 00:48, 14 November 2016 (UTC)
- Yeah, I'm OK if we just keep out the closed bit... Montanabw(talk) 05:13, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
