Problems with this article

[edit]

To me it reads like a person's point of view. Also, it reads like a travelogue. The references are from a blog and a forum post; the rest are dead except for the last one. I think the article needs fixing. Thanks, Soranoch (talk) 23:41, 25 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It also seems inaccurate. There seems to be a desire to turn it into an actual path instead of what it was, which was following the path of like-minded individuals and their drugs. Tangier, especially the Zone, was a major part of that (Davies (2009), p. 120), even if it wasn't part of a straight line anywhere else. — LlywelynII 00:49, 18 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sure there are some inacuracies, but give it a break. I am a regular (though not prolific) Wikipedia editor, and I am keenly aware of the difficulties creating an article like this, as I regularly edit the article on the children's game Ringolevio, which is plagued by the difficulties in documenting the rules of a game that were not written down, but passed by word of mouth from each generation of New York kids to those a few years younger, over the course of at least 100 years, and differed from neighborhood to neighborhood. I, for one, am delighted to see that this article even exists. I traveled parts of the trail, hitchhiking extensively around Europe in 1973, and Europe and the Middle East in 1978, including a memorable stop at Istanbul's famous Pudding Shop. Surely, the article can be much improved, but don't diss it; it tells a piece of cultural history that shouldn't be relegated to the dustbins of gradually fading memories of Boomers like me. removed city list

[edit]

I have removed the long, unsourced list of cities from the route section. It provided no real information and the column format broke the text flow, making the article hard to read. I am putting the list here in case somebody wants to retrieve it.

Berlin

[edit]

I find it strange that West Berlin, an exclave 'island' surrounded by the DDR entirely, remains in the text, when, in my time, (early 80s) it was Munich that was much more important acting as the funnel for travellers to congregate in and use as a staging post before moving further eastwards. You read it in Wikipedia!
