Change of title

[edit]

Both the Bishop in Belize and I would prefer that this article retain the name we gave it: History of the Catholic Church in Belize before it was changed by someone at Wikipedia. There are two reasons for this. Since the Second Vatican Council of the Catholic church some 50 years ago there has been emphasis on its being a world church, enculturated into each country where it exists, with liturgy in the vernacular, and more under the control of the local bishop, with less close centralization in Rome. This is also part of the ecumenical efforts of reuniting the Eastern Orthodox and Uniate churches with the Catholic church. This renewed understanding was evidenced when Pope Francis in his first appearance referred to himself as the Bishop of Rome, which is what he is and what progressives in the Catholic church are trying to emphasize in practice. Secondly, so often "-ism" is seen as a put-down, and we would like to avoid being an "ism". If this decision on change of title cannot be immediately reversed and the given name restored to the article, please tell me how/if I might appeal the decision.jzsj 16:19, 13 May 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jzsj (talkcontribs)

I understand what you are saying. I also know that the "-ism" is not a put-down in wikipedia. —BoBoMisiu (talk) 00:44, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Update: to Template - History of the Roman Catholic Church

[edit]

Greetings, in addition to some article copy-edits, I updated the history template to include Belize. Regards, JoeHebda (talk) 22:13, 15 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Updates for article Sections

[edit]

Greetings, Today I completed numerous updates to this article's Section titles. For example, the Historical periods section had only one " = " so it is changed to two " == " as the level one is reserved for the article's title & should not be used within the article. This is per MOS - Layout. (see Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Layout#Headings_and_sections). I also moved wikilinks that resided within section titles to the opening sentence of that subsection. There were a couple of Images that were placed on the line before their appropriate section that I moved as the first line of that section. Lastly, I did a few minor copy-edits. Regards, JoeHebda (talk) 13:00, 1 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the info. I'll alter the introduction section to conform to this.jzsj 19:30, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
