The result of the move request was: Withdrawn, not moved per WP:SNOW its clear that this proposal isn't going to happen.(non-admin closure) Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:25, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
– No clear primary topic given the likes of Homer Simpson and Homerian which comes from Homer, Shropshire and apparently doesn't derive from the poet and gives its name to the Homerian. Even though the character's name derives from the poet I think most people today will think of the character when "Homer" is mentioned. Although Google, Books and views[[1]] do show more for the poet, Images returns more for the character. Homer (author) is another possibility. Crouch, Swale (talk) 11:06, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose. If there's a title to which WP:PTOPIC #2 (long-term significance) clearly and unambiguously applies, it's this one. I don't think that any of the topics listed on this dab page rises to a fraction of the writer's historic importance, and, after all, most of those are named after him. - Oppose per No such user and that an image search doesn't count for much when it comes to wp:primarytopic—blindlynx (talk) 14:34, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose Long-term significance makes this one a primary topic. 162 etc. (talk) 15:12, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
- Strong Oppose The poet is clearly the primary topic, both in terms of usage and long-term significance, the two major factors to be considered per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC). Paul August ☎ 15:17, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose per discussion and long-term significance. Randy Kryn (talk) 16:42, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
- Strong oppose only one subject here. In ictu oculi (talk)
- Oppose. The Greek author is clearly the primary topic. Homer Simpson is only called just "Homer" in-universe in The Simpsons, in the outside world he's Homer Simpson. JIP | Talk 20:26, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
- Comment Can we please have a snow close? I think the banner on the Homer page about this proposed rename is an embarassment. Paul August ☎ 20:39, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
- Snow close please. It should really be an admin or I'd do it myself, but "no early closes" is like the one hard rule about non-admin closes Red Slash 21:50, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
- I could snow close it myself but I am already involved in the discussion. JIP | Talk 08:16, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose. No need to leave this open. Srnec (talk) 01:57, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose. An easy call for me—the poet is primary per long-term significance, and most other Homers are named for him, either directly or indirectly. P Aculeius (talk) 13:23, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
