Cleanup
[edit]I gave this article a cleanup tag. It looks like it was translated from another language, with lots of run-on sentences and non-standard spellings. Also, it seems to be written toward a level of someone with more background in Catholic theology and politics. Also, there are lots of unsourced direct quotes. I tagged and copyedited a lot, but it still needs a lot of work. --Dchall1 22:13, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
Neutrality
[edit]Looking briefly at this article, it seems to be very favorable to Mgr. Gaillot. Do other people believe this is the case? TallNapoleon (talk) 07:14, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
- Well I wrote a significant amount of the article, perhaps you can cite the parts that you feel are particularly partisan - this article is quite in depth however, so the primary sources are what one may call biased (them being Gaillot's autobiography and an article from the NCR - so it can be difficult to actually get a neutral account of the affair). AJMW (talk) 17:33, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
- The bishop was punished for holding and promoting heretical views. The Church doesn't care a whit where a bishop's positions lie on the political spectrum, only whether they are in line with the teaching of the Magisterium. Would you mind changing your article (specifically the intro) to reflect this fact? Mes (talk) 21:30, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
I would say that is views were / are more "heterodox" then "heretic", or Pope John Paul II certainly wouldn't have kept him as a bishop.Mistico (talk) 00:40, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
Improvement
[edit]Not an easy task but I will do my best to improve the article. I don't think that it's really a matter of neutrality than of explaining his own theological views and in which ways it colides with some of the doctrine of the Church. The current article relies a lot in the one from the French Wikipedia. It's also interesting to point that Jacques Gaillot religious tolerance also goes to Traditionalist Roman Catholics from the Society of St. Pius X. Another important aspect is that he was never forced to resign by Pope John Paul II which seems to indicate that his departure from the doctrine of the Catholic Church wasn't as extreme as some would like to point, even if it is by any means controversial.Mistico (talk) 00:37, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
removing POV tag with no active discussion per Template:POV

Since there's no evidence of ongoing discussion, I'm removing the tag for now. If discussion is continuing and I've failed to see it, however, please feel free to restore the template and continue to address the issues. Thanks to everybody working on this one! -- Khazar2 (talk) 22:37, 20 June 2013 (UTC)
