This article has been checked against the following criteria for B-class status:
Why are there no BBC News, CNN coverage, New York Times coverage, The Guardian news articles, etc., for this event listed? Surely an event this significant would have been reported and could be cited for the article? There were many journalist in Sri Lanka during the war . . . I second this concern. The article cogently makes some pretty lofty and consequential assertions about the Peace keeping forces of Indian Army, but as it seems the mainstream news didn't cover it? What does that adumbrate? Without some solid reference to the news, the books fall in the category of "opinion" and ought not to be cited as reliable sources to back claims about such an event of this magnitude.
Guys, newspapers are not the only reliable sources, infact we have better sources. Read up on

This happened in 1987, pre-internet era, so you won't find any contemporary electronic articles. You'll need to look at hard copies of newspapers. I found a few references to the incident on Google News.--obi2canibetalkcontr16:03, 28 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
we should value the narratives impacted by this event; my mother was a nurse at the hospital and has rich contextual information of the event as well as details of the event itself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.229.250.50 (talk) 15:25, 5 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This article has appeared twice on the Main page, and although a few relevant articles link to it, most other previous links seem gone. There is a discrepancy between Main page appearance and article appearance. Either the article and the Main page notes should not exist, or the article should be linked to - that is for you to discuss. I don't test validity, notability or neutrality here. TGCP (talk) 17:00, 21 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
it is quite surprising that a page of such poor make-up made it twice to the main page twice. If the page is referring neutrally to a massacre which occured in the massive proportion as mentioned, it is some thing very very serious. But the page is not reflecting the seriousness, and it may not be good to keep the page linked to the main page in the current form, which gives another impression on the main page. It is requested that the page be improved with more reference and enlarge it, with neutral tones. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.212.215.194 (talk) 22:20, 21 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
TGCP, I am trying to decipher what you have written, please explain also also the IP contributer, the article was edited by many people with all RS sources. Kanatonian (talk) 21:41, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The original Main Page text said "1987 – Sri Lankan Civil War: Indian Army soldiers, belonging to the Indian Peace Keeping Force, entered the Jaffna Teaching Hospital in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, and began killing about 68–70 patients, nurses, doctors and other staff members" while the text here on Talk Page says "Did you know ... that the 1987 hospital massacre in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, took place on Diwali, a major Hindu holiday?" . Those two texts do not match, but that is simply because they come from different boxes at different times on the Main Page - I was not aware of that at the time, but I can see that now. The "1987 - " text was on Main Page in 2009 and 2010, while the "Did you know"-text was from 2008. A simple misunderstanding for which I apologize. TGCP (talk) 22:17, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
This page needs to be rewritten to meet Wikipedia standards. As such it appears to be a biased account written by one of the survivors, and there are no references provided — Preceding unsigned comment added by 137.254.7.171 (talk) 21:34, 9 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
