Brackets
[edit]You don't explain what the various types of brackets are for. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.22.165.103 (talk) 16:13, 11 December 2016 (UTC)
Full-stop and quotation marks
[edit]It would be handy to add a line about where the period goes in relation to quotation marks. This is a major point of contention in many languages (such as the one I'm writing in now) and mistakes are often taken as an indication of ignorance on the writer's part. Any road, could someone more knowledgeable of Japanese punctuation than I specify the rules for periods and quotation marks? Laodah 19:58, 23 February 2017 (UTC)
Hyphens as delimiters
[edit]This article is missing any mention of hyphens, which are occasionally used as delimiters in Japanese. Examples: アンティック‐珈琲店‐, キスダム ‐ENGAGE planet‐, and Every Heart ‐ミンナノキモチ‐. I'm not sure what to make of the first case. The usage in the latter two cases seems to be to delimit subtitles as one would normally do with wave dashes. Patrick Dark 00:47, 13 September 2017 (UTC)
Another case: ツバサ‐RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE‐. Patrick Dark (talk) 11:57, 22 September 2017 (UTC)
Another case: Midnight‐星を数える夜‐. Patrick Dark (talk) 03:13, 28 October 2017 (UTC)
- But we notice that these are all titles, probably of pop songs. And in such things, any mark can be used for any meaning or none, if the resultant decorative effect pleases the eye of the designer. (Together with the broken English and erratic capitalisation) This cannot really be called "punctuation", because it has no conventional meaning, so does not belong in the article. Half-width between parenthesis
[edit]I often see the usage of half-width characters when used between parenthesis in an horizontal write.
Is there a typographical rule about that?

Wave Dash
[edit]The symbol used is a tilda and not a wave dash ! 37.67.74.135 (talk) 22:34, 11 February 2024 (UTC)
