José Abreu (infielder)José Abreu (Negro leagues) – Insufficient disambiguation with José Abreu (first baseman) 162 etc. (talk) 22:28, 22 September 2021 (UTC)— Relisting. Havelock Jones (talk) 07:26, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • @162 etc. and Bison X: quieried move request Anthony Appleyard (talk) 23:41, 22 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • The article stated "infielder", but digging deeper, he played 11 of his 15 games at second base (2 each at third and short) [1], so the proper article title should be José Abreu (second baseman). Rgrds. --Bison X (talk) 23:22, 22 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    • Digging even deeper, he went by Pepe [2], so the proper article title should be Pepe Abreu. Rgrds. --Bison X (talk) 23:38, 22 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    • Not convinced that Pepe was the more common name for him (the Negro Leagues Database shows him as José). In this case, the (Negro Leagues) tag improves clarity, and is specifically recommended by WP:NCBASE when using positions is ambiguous. 162 etc. (talk) 23:49, 22 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
      • Positions come first, specifically per NCBASE; second base was their primary position, they never played 1st base (other Jose's primary position). José Abreu (second baseman) is my vote. "Negro league" is an umbrella term that covers all of black baseball. This player never played in any league but on an independent team that might be considered a "major" independent team since it was the remnants of a once-major league team. If the player was white, we would dab using their position. Rgrds. --Bison X (talk) 00:15, 23 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose the original proposal. Support José Abreu (second baseman) per Bison X and NCBASE. Firefangledfeathers (talk) 16:28, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Just for clarity's sake, originally this page was at "José Abreu (Negro leagues)" & the current White Sox player was at "José Abreu (baseball)". For proper DAB, I moved "(baseball)" to "(first baseman)" & this page to "(infielder)" – as this article stated his position at that time – per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (baseball players) #3. It was brought to my attention that "(infielder)" doesn't really DAB well from "(first baseman)". Looking closer at this player, his primary position was actually second base, so I edited the article accordingly & proposed moving to "(second baseman)". If an RM wasn't already in progress, I would have just moved it outright. But the unclear DAB is why the OP made this proposal to reverse the move.
