I wrote my Master's Thesis on Joseph Russell Knowland. I have to the best of my ability to write a detailed biography on this site on JR Knowland.Ustye 09:17, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
I am wondering if either LarryQ or Ustye has read the 1901 Knowland Investigation that is in the State Library in Sacramento. A number of years ago I got photocopies of parts of it. Fascinating! I believe Joseph Knowland was Methodist--is that correct? Can you say anything about how his Methodism may have influenced his politics? I am particularly interested in that as it corresponds to "slavery" in Chinatown.----staleyjl
