- ... that after Nebraska State Treasurer Joseph S. Bartley was sentenced to twenty years in prison for embezzlement, he tried to have himself declared legally dead? Source: "A novel petition has been filed in the District Court by Joseph Bartley, ex-State Treasurer (...) The petition declares that Bartley cannot be sued, since he is dead, having been sentenced to the penitentiary for twenty years"

- Article was new enough and long enough at the time of the nomination, is adequately sourced, and is free of close paraphrasing. QPQ has been done. The hook is interesting, accepting the quote given above for verification. Only one minor issue: his death is mentioned in the lede but not in the article body; I'd like to see at least some information about his post-release life and death in the body. The nomination will be approved once that is addressed. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 11:09, 17 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Narutolovehinata5: - Information about Bartley's life post-release is sparse but not non-existent; I've added it to the article (as well as some other details I found elsewhere). DS (talk) 18:10, 19 January 2024 (UTC)
- Oh, and I also found a photo of Bartley, which can be used on the front page. DS (talk) 18:15, 19 January 2024 (UTC)
- Should be good to go once the actual death is mentioned in the body. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 12:20, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
