Draft Info

[edit]

What round of the draft was he drafted in? That seems like basic and important info to include. 136.182.158.153 17:14, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Since the page is locked I can't add this pertinent information, however, per baseball-reference.com, Julio was Drafted by the Houston Astros in the 43rd round of the 1994 amateur draft. Player signed May 17, 1995 with the Astros. --Realest Red Sox Fan 14:19, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Removed Text

[edit]

I removed this line:

Julio Lugo was the 1st person in the chain in the Hands Across America initiative of 1986.
I can't find any information to back this up, and it seems, you know, pretty unlikely that an 11 year old from Brooklyn would have been the first person instead of the listed celebs listed on the page: NYC (with Brooke Shields as well as Liza Minelli, Susan Anton, Gregory Hines, and Edward James Olmos, Yoko Ono,and Harry Belafonte anchoring the George Washington Bridge) -bobvila2

[edit]

What's the deal with the removal of all of the Lugo Facts? We are simply trying to inform the world of some unique baseball statistics, yes, I conceed that some of the stuff was a little rediculous, but I don't think the page needs to be locked, who is going to update Lugo's impressive hitting streak?!?!, furthermore I think the stat about the 4 Julios in MLB is legit and should stay —Preceding unsigned comment added by Real Sox Fan (talkcontribs) thanks for the clarification Real Sox Fan 17:22, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You may wish to read WP:TRIVIA for why the information on the number of Julio's was removed. Pats Sox Princess 22:08, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I appreaciate your help, but I find that this guidance was intentionaly written to be subject to the interpritation of the users and editors, as for the number of Julio's I do think that the fact that there are only 4 Julio's in Major League Baseball is relevant given the large influence of the latin players on the current game in the commonality of the name Julio in the Spanish language, Real Sox Fan 22:30, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think the best solution may be to wait for a few days and see what other users have to say about this. Pats Sox Princess 22:41, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

POV

[edit]

Although I concede that Lugo's performance this (2007) season has been atrocious, the article seems a bit bloated with opinions that cannot be fully substantiated with objective evidence.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.21.176.141 (talk)

Assessment comment

[edit]

The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Julio Lugo/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

My only significant issue with the article is the assessment at the bottom beginning with "Julio has been known to be a terrific defensive shortstop with good speed, and fine range" Specifically, the word "terrific" to decribe his defensive abilities is questionable at best. Lugo's average of over 20 errors per season for the last 4 seasons is decent, but far from terrific.
