His Highness[edit]

On his website here, the welcome note is signed as "His Highness". I don't have a copy of the Genealogisches Handbuch des Adels, but perhaps someone who does could confirm that "His Highness" is the proper style for the head of this family, and "Serene Highness" for other members of the family. He is not "his highness". The title has no legal force. He is not "prince of Hohenzollern", since Hohenzollern has no princes for over a century. He is a private individual whose name is Prinz von Hohenzollern. We do not translate foreign surnames. Guy (help!) 22:31, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

In German he is known as Fürst von Hohenzollern, he used to be known as Erbprinz. I have no idea what his legal surname is. In English he is known as Prince of Hohenzollern as can be seen on his website. - dwc lr (talk) 10:54, 6 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Blairall Yes Highness for the Fürst and Serene Highness for the rest in GHdA now days. Until 1918 Prussia used to confer Royal Highness (ad personam) on the Fürst, while the first Fürst to succeed after 1918 (Friedrich, Prince of Hohenzollern) also adopted the style Royal Highness in the 1930s via a family agreement, on account of him being head of the family which included the reigning Royal Romanian branch. - dwc lr (talk) 14:13, 6 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
