Community settlement[edit]

I know the meaning of the word "community" has been distorted in recent years, but a community is a settlement. Is this some roundabout way of describing an intentional community, commune or something similar to a kibbutz. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:4C8:1488:1DAC:FC88:E4EF:23F9:A85 (talk) 12:22, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The description links to the article community settlement, which explains what it is. Number 57 18:54, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

On what land?[edit]

This place is about 1-2 km (north)-east of Saydun, is it on Saydun land? It is also just N of Dayr Muhaysin. Pinging User:Zero0000 and User:Onceinawhile. It is not mentioned in Khalidi (1992), but that might be because it was only founded in 1984. Cheers, Huldra (talk) 21:26, 22 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Huldra: it is right next to the ruins of Abu Shusha. It looks like most of it is on the village land of "El Khalayil"?

User:Onceinawhile "El Khalayil" were bedouin, right? Not in Khalidi (but in Pal.rem), Huldra (talk) 22:04, 22 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ps: I got interested in this place, because of the sink hole which just appeard. One reason such sinkhole could apperar is ancient caves, numerous in ancient settlement in the area. Huldra (talk) 22:11, 22 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Huldra: I just added a map showing the caves very clearly. Onceinawhile (talk) 22:27, 22 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If you look on the satellite view of the town you can see the pool, and it is almost exactly on top of where the SoP map shows "caves". The owner deserves to go to prison - he built without a licence apparently because he knew he wouldn't get one. Awful stuff. Onceinawhile (talk) 22:35, 22 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Fascinating. Yes I think bedouin. No sign of a built-up village there. Onceinawhile (talk) 22:15, 22 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

So the incident occured in the northern part of Karmei Yosef?[citation needed] Then that would more likely be the land of Abu Shusha, and not Saydun. Huldra (talk) 23:00, 22 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Looking at the government satellite map, that is where the only peanut-shaped pools are. Onceinawhile (talk) 23:12, 22 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
WP:OR!
Anyway, Abu Shusha's history is interesting; due to internal infighting/disagreement, large parts of the village land was sold off Jewish groups (in 1945, 6.337 of the total 9,425 dunam of village land was Jewish owned; see Hadawi, p. 66). Also, as I recall reading; some rather nasty things happened here in 1948(?), Huldra (talk) 23:34, 22 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
These are maps four decades prior to the founding of the community settlement.Researcher (Hebrew: חוקרת) (talk) 10:42, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
