Reason for non-deletion
[edit]The article was created in response to the community portal - 'Articles requested more than a year ago' (paraphased). Kensuke Shiina's name was there and the request was for a stub to be written which other Wikipedians could then add to.
I duly wrote the stub - and although I am no expert on Kensuke Shiina - he is one of the first Japanese DJ/Muscian exponents of trip hop (Bristol scene), lounge and Shibuya kei music - and sits with Towa Tei, Fantastic Plastic Machine, Yoshinori Sunahara, and others in moving this music forward and bringing it to the popularity it has today in Japan.
Yes the stub needs to be expanded as the referencable information comes in - but an article on Kensuke Shiina is as important as an article on most of the English speaking muscians here. In due course I have no doubt that it will be expanded - and it will be an important refernce source for the followers of electronica, shibuya-kei, lounge etc. Wikipedia is not only a reference source for the obvious musical stars of the day - but also for the more obscure who owrk in less popular genres - and by representing this Wikipedia can claim to have expanded encyclopedic knowledge.
In a recent interview on CNN Jimmy Wales, the founder of Wikipedia, said he would like Wikipedia to one day be the sum of all human knowledge. This is one step towards that...
...and come on guys - Wikipedia requested the article, I wrote a stub just yesterday, give it some time to grow.... Kunchan 21:11, 3 October 2007 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kunchan (talk • contribs) 21:08, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
- I've removed the tag, as this person has released three albums on the same label. That's enough of an assertion of notability for me to feel like speedy deletion is inappropriate here. Some refs would be awesome, though. Natalie 22:53, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
