Question[edit]

Just a note, why doesn't wiki adjust goalkeeper stats to include their appearances and clean sheets rather than goals scored? That makes sense.

Transfer to Chelsea[edit]

The transfer to Chelsea has not been finalised yet, but Bilbao has officially announced through its website and twitter feed that Kepa has paid the termination clause. This is what I have posted so far. I have not added Chelsea just yet. Krughal (talk) 14:11, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

From all that I read, on this page, on the official source from Athletic, from the BBC and other reliable sources, he paid his own release clause. Is that right? I doubt I'm the only reader who would want some more explanation on this to be included because it's unusual. Am I reading right that a young mid-table goalkeeper on the fringes of the national team could afford £71 million just so he could join another team??? Harambe Walks (talk) 18:06, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It's standard practice under Spanish law (not sure whether state or sporting). They make the player deposit the clause fee personally, obviously this comes from the buying club with guarantees. Seem to remember that Barcelona tried to cause difficulties with that part of the Neymar transfer, claimed it wasn't following the regulations? Crowsus (talk) 18:18, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Edit: here is a ref for the situation. In fairness to Barça, it seems it was the league itself that obstructed the Neymar deal. I think in general if the clubs agree, they sort out the payments. It's only when the club losing the player refuses to cooperate that the player themself needs to get involved to pay the fee to release. Crowsus (talk) 20:43, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Harambe Walks:, I've now added the above ref and a couple of others to the Buyout clause article. It's not exactly an amazing piece of work, but at least explains things a bit better. Crowsus (talk) 23:39, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism[edit]

Not sure if this is the right place to put this, but the page was vandalized, and the player's position was changed, as well as his "managerial career" section, which he shouldn't have... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.116.91.154 (talk) 12:23, 19 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks IP. It has been dealt with [1]. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 18:58, 19 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Can we have a personal life section to detail Kepa’s interest in birds and early years training goldfinches for singing competitions? Also he is now married. 2A02:C7C:D699:3C00:B55A:6F0B:5E11:CD23 (talk) 19:13, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. If you would like, you can try writing such a section with supporting sources and reopen the request then Cannolis (talk) 19:27, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
