Nehoialpity River?[edit]

I just found a Loc image on this page while looking for stuff on Ft Shepherd...."between Similkameen and Fort Shepherd" is where this is supposed to be, with no date given; I don't recognize the mountain but I don't know t eh area well; doesn't look like the Okanagan, I'm guess that hte refernece is to the Kettle or Granby valleys. If anyone here recognizes this mountain, or knows where "Nehoialpity valley" refers to please let me know. Kettle River Source[edit]

The Kettle's souce is Holmes Lake, whose outlet is at 50°06′55″N 118°18′43″W / 50.11528°N 118.31194°W / 50.11528; -118.31194. I'm going to add that in. AndrewEnns (talk) 21:19, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Found it easily through the main BCGNIS page - "Kettle River". BC Geographical Names. - click on the link there, to to the BCGNIS article and follow the link to their search page; anything that's too hard to find on Google, especially duplicate names/locations, that's the way to find them...the latlong in that should be where it crosses the border, though it might be rounded to then nearest minute...Skookum1 (talk) 00:49, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Kettle River Recreation Area might be worth adding to the article, and its own stub; ther's also Kettle Valley, a community west of Greenwood....a sequential list of places along the river might be good...Skookum1 (talk) 00:51, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

New Image[edit]

I will be going camping near Rock Creek, a small communtity at the mouth of the real Rock Creek, this summer. Some of the nicest sections of the Kettle are near there including great swimming areas. I will definitely be taking some pictures while I'm there & chances are that at least one of them will find a home on this article. I also will try to get pictures of the West Kettle River, Granby River & the city of Grand Forks. If I happen to pass by Boundary Falls & have time to check it out a bit I may create an article for it with an image that I take. Should be a fun trip! Note Cascade Falls (Kettle River), also, which sounds like it has a little gorge to go with, and an old powerhouse. Also while you're at Rock Creek, somewhere there, on Rock Creek (the creek), I guess, is a place called Sailor Bar which was the focus of the Rock Creek Gold Rush. Before you head up into that country I recommend you look for the Boundary Country volume of T.W. Pateron's Gold Trails and Ghost Towns series; or is that Gold Camps and Ghost Towns? I've forgotten; lots of interesting little places around there, and some great stories to go with various articles/stubs already kicking around....see Anarchist Mountain, Volcanic Brown, Greenwood, and others in Category:Boundary Country...I haven't written Camp McKinney yet, been meaning to; it's up by the little ski hill Mount Baldy Ski Area i think the article is, which is driveable and will have an outrageous view of the Oliver area of the South Okanagan and the mountains/highlands to its west....to the northeast there should be some views of the higher summits of the mid-Monashees to the east of Big White, and you should be able to see Big White from up there too, I think...Skookum1 (talk) 23:40, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think I will get to look at Cascade Falls; I want to but I don't think I will get a chance. Now where is this Sailor Bar place in comparison to the mouth of Rock Creek? Depending on where it is, I may or may not get a chance to visit it. Now if I do, is there anything still there that I could take pictures of that would be good for Wikipedia? As you can see, I love to post pictures onto Wikipedia. Anarchist Mountain won't be on the list (looks like it offers some awesome views of the Okanagan Valley though) but Greenwood, which will probably be on the way to Grand Forks, is. Also, Midway could use another image & chances are, I will be passing through it on my way to Grand Forks. There is lots of history in this area indeed!
By the way, I didn't know Rock Creek had a stub on it. Guess that just shows how much Wikipedia covers these days. AndrewEnns (talk) 00:55, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
LOL that's 'cause of me....(look at the edit history)...As for Anarchist Mountain, it's actually more of a name for the community/region and for the climb up from Osoyoos; there is no mountain....so just a shot of teh rolling rangeland/farms in that area as you drive through it would work fine....I'll try and dig up specs on Sailor Bar, read it somewhere, even saw a map, will have to remember where, might even be in BCGNIS!Skookum1 (talk) 01:10, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It does, but not by the Sailor Bar name, as there was a cairn erected - see "Rock Creek (creek)". BC Geographical Names.. BCGNIS also has "Rock Creek Provincial Park". BC Geographical Names. but there's nothing in the BC Parks page, maybe it's obsolete or Class C....if I come up with other details I'll let you know. One thing to bear in mind while visiting the Boundary Country is this was once one of the most populous, richest and most industrialized of all regions of British Columbia; like the Portland Canal, too actually....."poof" gone...Skookum1 (talk) 01:17, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
