I was rather surprised to be notified of the requested deletion of this article from 2017 by 98.244.16.162, apparently at the "subject's request". I also see that the same editor has deleted many key facts from the article. I don't usually revert changes without prior discussion but it looks to me as if the details were properly sourced. Perhaps it would be useful to have reactions from SusunW who is a major contributor to the article. I would also appreciate receiving advice from Victuallers on how to react to requests from an IP user. I should also point out that the much older French version of the article is still intact.--Ipigott (talk) 14:17, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
My additions to the article had to do with the products being produced. Specifically wool. Most of what was deleted was biographical, which is always sensitive for living people. The request by an IP does however beg a question as to why the French article has been untouched and the similar biographical information has not been removed. If indeed the request is being made by the subject, I personally would honor that request even though the subject meets GNG, but admittedly, I have no idea how one would confirm that. I'm not sure of the correct procedure, but we cannot take notice from a random IP. This person could be the subject's nemesis and we have a directive to provide a complete encyclopedia. We wouldnt allow an IP to add a photo claiming it was a selfie. I would refer the IP person to our complaints procedure here... basically we don't delete articles although IAR applies if there was a convincing case. Thanks, Victuallers for getting so quickly back to me on this but I don't think I am sufficiently competent to become involved on the further steps you suggest. Probably best to wait for AfD and see if anyone reacts. If it's deleted without all the pertinent info, too bad.--Ipigott (talk) 19:37, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
We do not delete articles because the subject objects.... and if we did then we would need to be convinced that we were talking to the subject of the article. We don't create articles for the benefit of the subject of this article but for the 1bn ppl who read Wikipedia each month. So there are one billion reasons for keeping this article if the subject is notable. Victuallers (talk) 21:48, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Some sensitive infomation was removed but it doesnt disappear, Wikipedia remembers the stuff - forever. We CAN completely disappear/delete stuff if we know why and who is asking Victuallers (talk) 21:55, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
