Before her success in the Olympic Games of 2012, I doubt many people had heard of Laura Trott. Looking at the history of this article, I see that this article dates back to September 2011 - which makes me even more impressed by how up-to-date Wikipedia is! All right, I know some might say that Wikipedia is not a crystal ball, but we should still have a lot of gratitude towards what must surely be the world's most up-to-date encyclopaedia. To further emphasise what I have said, I have just looked at wikinews and searched for "Laura Trott" there - but there was nothing about her there. It seems that Wikipedia is actually more up-to-date with current news than wikinews! ACEOREVIVED (talk) 10:21, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Laura Trott has changed her name on instagram and twitter to Laura Kenny

Katie960 (talk) 19:57, 25 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

That may be true, but as neither her Twitter nor Instagram accounts are mentioned in the article I'm not sure what edit you're requesting. If you're suggesting moving the article or referring to her as "Kenny" rather than "Trott", please see WP:NAMECHANGES, on which grounds it appears to be too soon. Laura Kenny nee Trott Please open link below https://twitter.com/LauraTrott31?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor her name is now Laura Kenny

How much more proof do you need

Katie960 (talk) 21:20, 25 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Not done per above. If/when independent, reliable sources call her Laura Kenny, then it can be changed. Joseph2302 06:00, 26 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

There was NO women's team pursuit at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Laura Trott only won gold in the points race. Please change the number of commonwealth games medals and the medals won section.

Thanks

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. Mlpearc (open channel) 14:24, 26 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Laura Kenny

[edit]

I don't know if it's too soon to move the page (or indeed, what the policy is in relation to this), but she seems to now be known as Kenny and not Trott. Here's quite a lengthy BBC article, for example. Lugnuts Precious bodily fluids 09:58, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

That does indicate she has changed her name professionally, though I'd wait to see how she is referred to in competition before making a formal move. Fenix down (talk) 10:06, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Article she's written on BBC Sport says Laura Kenny. Don't want to rush it, but the move will become the right choice at some point. Joseph2302 10:17, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I don't think it's quite at the top of the must-do things on WP right now. I like Fenix's suggestion of waiting for how she's referred to in competition. Lugnuts Precious bodily fluids 10:56, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

2020 or 2021 Olympics?

[edit]

The opening section of this article says that Laura Kenny won a medail in the "2020 (sic.) Olympics". Since these Olympics were not held until 2921 should it not say 2921 Olympics? Rollo August (talk) 18:18, 6 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Lady Kenny

[edit]

She was made a Dame in the same honours list as her husband was knighted, so as well as becoming Dame Laura Kenny, she also, as the wife of a knight, becomes Lady Kenny. BritFlicks1 (talk) 18:11, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I think you'll need a citation for that. The fact that she has her own honour means that she would never be referred to as Lady Kenny. Millstream3 (talk) 18:16, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The wife of a Knight automatically becomes Lady, even if they have a title of their own, in this case Dame Commander (DBE). For example, the actress Dame Sybil Thorndike was made a Dame Commander in 1931 and became Dame Sybil Thorndike, Lady Casson, DBE, upon her husband, the actor Lewis Casson, being knighted in 1945.
