I agree M. NourbeSe Philip's anti-racist activism is an important part of what she's known for but lets try and get it right. I will do a paragraph around this activism when I re write the bio with less quotes as requested.
Just to be clear, the demo at the PEN gala was about the lack of "Canadian writers of colour" at the PEN event -not women and not in the organization. M.NourbeSe Philip was one of several demonstrators at this demo which was sponsored by a group called Vision 21. This demo preceded the issue relating to the “concerns around the management of a Toronto women's shelter Callwood had established” and M.NourbeSe Philip had no connection to that issue whatsoever.
