Needs Expansion
[edit]Okay. This Article just saids "Mario Party 9 is an upcoming video game for the Nintendo Wii. It was announced at E3 2011 and is currently under development". That's it. It should say "Mario Party 9 is an upcoming party video game for the Wii, the ninth installment of the Mario Party franchise]]. First shown at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2011, no release date was announced, nor developer. Like previous Mario Party Titles, Mario Party 9 features Mario series characters in which four human- or computer-controlled characters compete in a board game interspersed with mini-games. Mario Party 9 is currently under development.". Sure it might still be a stub, but a least the lead sections a little better. I had to keep expanding the lead section, but you keep undoing it. I know Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, but still.
Oh Yeah, and i noticed you uploaded the Mario Party 9 logo on Wikimedia commons. Is it a free logo? If it's copyright, then take it off wikimedia commons, because Wikimedia commons only allows free non-copyrighted media to be uploaded to the site. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheLoverofLove (talk • contribs) 15:50, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
- Your information keeps on being removed because it's either unsourced/unconfirmed or redundant. There's no purpose in writing things like "Mario Party 9 is the Ninth installment in the series". That doesn't need to be spelled out. Everything else is unconfirmed, that is, unless you can provide a reliable source that can confirm it.
- As far as the images go, I'll let someone else take care of that. I don't usually mess around with images unless they're innappropriate for the article or something...Sergecross73 msg me 15:57, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
- Okay. But if the article stays like this, i'm worried it would be nominated for deletion.
- Yes, but adding filler or unsourced information isn't going to help things. It all honesty, if nominated for deletion, it could go either way. On one hand, it's a real, officially confirmed game. On the other hand, there'd be a good argument that this singular sentence doesn't require it's own article, and it'd be just as good as part of the "series" MP article. I won't nominate it though. - True. But someone else might. User talk:TheLoverofLove 15:35, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
- If someone knows wikipedia policy enough to nominate it for deletion with a justified rationale, then they're not going to be fooled by that filler/unsourced information regardless... Sergecross73 msg me 13:19, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Mario Party Legacy
[edit]See here. Is it a fansite? It looks like one, and their disclaimer says they're not affiliated with Nitendo... Sergecross73 msg me 12:57, 23 July 2011 (UTC)
- Let me clarify. If this is a fansite, and to me it looks like it is, then it is not considered a wikipedia reliable source. As such, then information that it supplies (confirmed characters) should be removed. It appears it's just another random person looking at a trailer and yelling out "Oh! There's Toad! He's confirmed!" rather than anything actually announced. Sergecross73 msg me 12:36, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
File:Mp9 logo.jpg Nominated for speedy Deletion
[edit]An image used in this article, File:Mp9 logo.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Copyright violations
Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

About the "first game to feature boss battles" section
[edit]While I do realize that this tidbit is mentioned on the Best Buy reference, I'm pretty sure this game isn't the first with boss battles, Mario Party DS has them too. Unless I'm missing something. --Thunderbird8 (talk) 10:35, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
- I'd support removing it, partially because of what you said above, and partially due to the fact that promotional retail blurbs usually aren't used as sources for information on the game. Sergecross73 msg me 15:18, 9 March 2012 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. On the article Mario Party 9, please change 78 minigames to 80 minigames because there are 80 minigames in Mario Party 9. Please also put Playable characters back on the article.
This is how Mario Party 9 should look like. 124.170.231.22 (talk) 09:59, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
- Removed. Don't duplicate articles on talk pages. Dru of Id (talk) 10:29, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
- To 124.170.231.22, there are only 78 minigames in the game; I'm not sure where you're finding those two extras. And per WP:GAMECRUFT and WP:NOTGAMEGUIDE, lists of characters are discouraged on Wikipedia articles. Black Yoshi (Yoshi! | Yoshi's Eggs) 12:18, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
- Official website says that it has 80 minigames. Please do not change it to 78 minigames. Thank you. Curtaintoad (talk to me) 10:23, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
- Not done: As above Mdann52 (talk) 15:34, 12 June 2012 (UTC)

To Mdann52, I've checked on another Mario Party 9 page and there ARE 80 minigames in the game. And all the characters in Mario Party 9 are correct. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.171.16.147 (talk) 10:10, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
To Mdann52, on the article Mario Party 9, I want the paragraphs named Gameplay, Boards, Minigames and Playable characters on the article. On the article Mario Party 8, it has got these paragraphs. Go have a look on the article Mario Party 8. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.171.16.147 (talk) 10:35, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
- Firstly, WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. Mario Party 8 is not Mario Party 9, and thus should not be treated as such. The lists are WP:GAMECRUFT and WP:NOTGUIDE. So, Not done. CyanGardevoir (used EDIT!) 07:03, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
To Mdann52, there are 80 minigames in Mario Party 9. Edit the article and change it to 80 minigames. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.171.16.147 (talk) 10:48, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
- To 124.171.16.147, there are only 78 minigames in the game -- where are you finding the extra two?! And refer to WP:GAMECRUFT and WP:NOTGAMEGUIDE for an explanation of why playable character lists are unnecessary. Black Yoshi (Yoshi! | Yoshi's Eggs) 12:55, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
To Mdann52, this is where I am getting the 80 minigames from. I am getting them from this website:
mario%20party%209%20mini-games
- Sorry, but the URL is invalid CyanGardevoir (used EDIT!) 08:51, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
To Mdann52, on the sentence "A person can play on solo mode to unlock the final stage, as well as two playable characters", please change the "two" to "2" thankyou. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.171.15.220 (talk) 04:16, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
- To 124.171.15.220, see WP:NUMERAL for an explanation of why that won't happen. Black Yoshi (Yoshi! | Yoshi's Eggs) 10:09, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
Why isn't there a playable character list???!!!
[edit]To Mdann52, in Mario Party 9, characters Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Wario, Waluigi, Yoshi, Birdo, Toad, Koopa, Shy Guy and Kamek are playable in the game. Shy Guy and Kamek are unlockable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.168.63.139 (talk) 06:48, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
- There isn't a playable character list because such things violate WP:NOTGAMEGUIDE and WP:GAMECRUFT. Black Yoshi (Yoshi! | Yoshi's Eggs) 11:23, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
Not the Twelfth
[edit]Reading the summary to the article, I see it incorrectly states the game as the twelfth game in the series of Mario Party games. Considering that there are only eleven games in the series, that would make it the eleventh. I'll make the fix, if anyone has any arguments, I'd truly love to hear them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.215.12.159 (talk) 05:00, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
- Actually, there are twelve games in the series -- nine home-console games plus Advance, DS, and e-Reader. Nine plus three equals twelve. Black Yoshi (Yoshi! | Yoshi's Eggs) 14:35, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
Development section
[edit]Is a development section really necessary for this article? Especially since there seems to be a lack of significant information within it. Other users seem to be thinking that videogame articles need a development section -- but under what guidelines? Black Yoshi (Yoshi! | Yoshi's Eggs) 15:29, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
- Don't all video game articles need a development section? CURTAINTOAD! TALK! 23:44, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
- Not when they're empty. Satellizer talk contribs 23:49, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
- I don't know what guideline under, though. CURTAINTOAD! TALK! 00:21, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
- Under WP:VG/GL, actually -- but as Satellizer said, we can't add a section unless we have information to place in it. Black Yoshi (Yoshi! | Yoshi's Eggs) 03:15, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
