hi just a question... from what city in the philippines he was raised and became popular?

Hello! Sorry for the very late reply. I do know that he comes from the same hometown where I live. I managed to find an article that has this information and, accordingly, updated the article. Hope this helps :) --- Tito Pao (talk) 01:58, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

2600 FIDE

[edit]

Paragua is not the first Filipino to reach 2600 FIDE. It's Eugenio Torre. Demon Witch (talk) 09:58, 26 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Torre's actual peak rating was 2580 in January 1983. The Eugenio Torre article was wrong, but I've corrected it. The claimed 2619 peak in 1986 is simply impossible, as FIDE was still rounding ratings to the nearest 5 points at that time. I don't know where the 2619 figure came from, possibly it was chessmetrics.com. Quale (talk) 21:36, 26 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
