Untitled[edit]

I know very little about Mr Tully apart from what I have gleaned from listening to him on Radio 4's "Something Understood". However, the current text is clearly in violation of the NPOV policy and needs to be amended by a more knowledgeable Wikipedian. 0048 22-6-05 UTC The preceding unsigned comment was added by 144.32.128.68 (talk • contribs) 00:48 22 June 2005.

I agree, I have listened to many news reports from Mark Tully and haven't found anything making him sound partial. The last paragraph sounds totally biased and POV. I proposed it be removed/reworded. Thanks. --Ragib 00:50, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I understand from NPOV dispute that this should be a NPOV section tag rather than a check as the discussion is ongoing. I have changed accordingly. As to the substance of the discussion I should be grateful if any sources could be cited for the disputed section. --Silver149 6 July 2005 10:12 (UTC)
I find the following sentence quite POV and somewhat nonsense ..
  • "For someone who has lived and professed to love India for many decades, Sir Mark suffers the disadvantage of speaking atrocious Hindi."
What does that have to do with this article? or his character? As for the last sentences and the ref to Hindu Nation, I don't see any supporting references, so I plan to drop the so called "disputed" part . I rememeber listening to BBC when I was a kid, and having reports from Mark Tully almost every evening. So far as I can remember, the reports were pretty neutral. --Ragib 6 July 2005 10:21 (UTC)
I think I may not have made my meaning clear and I apologise. I was asking for sources to back up the assertion, for example, that "For someone who has lived and professed to love India for many decades, Sir Mark suffers the disadvantage of speaking atrocious Hindi." My concern was to flush out some support (if it exists) for the apparent strong POV so that a reasoned debate could ensue. If it did not, within a reasonable period - well reasonable to me :) - I was intending to delete the whole of the final paragraph and the NPOV warning. I hope this makes my concerns and proposed actions clearer. --Silver149 6 July 2005 11:44 (UTC)

Biased and Unclear[edit]

I have removed the following para. It is poorly expressed, and is not in objective language. Plagrised is not a word. And whether he "defamed" Sikhs is highly arguable. "An unstoppable Tully soon found himself mouthing the RSS mantra that Hindus should declare with pride that they are Hindu and that Indian civilisation has a Hindu base. Much as he protested that he was by no means a Hindutva ideologue, he still could not quite explain the logic of his stand considering his long-held belief in a pluralistic India. However, His findings and works have always been plagrised with his thinking which is reflected from his speeches and book: Indira gandhi - The last battle. In this book he particularly targetted Sikhs and represented their fight for rights wrongly to defame them as terrorists." Simhedges 20:53, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
