Book reference

[edit]

I have removed reference to the David Roberts book. This should be in the main article Annapurna (book). JM —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.74.224.102 (talk) 19:59, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Enlargement

[edit]

I have enlarged this article. I will add the references (New York Times, 4 June 2000; Annapurna, Maurice Herzog, Jonathan Cape, 1952; True Summit, David Roberts, Simon and Schuster, 2000; Top Climbs of the World, Garth Hattingh, ISBN1 85974 085 5, New Holland, 1999) appropriately in due course - and link to other relevant pages (Annapurna, Louis Lachenal, Hillary etc.). If you have more time on your hands please feel free. I think that Louis Lachenal's entry could be beefed up a little as well. --Adam Brink 10:43, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

While he was mayor of Chamonix he was responsible for two major property developments, "Chamonix Sud" and the Grand Roc apartment complex in Argentiere. In the opinion of some people these buildings are out of character with the apline town and scenery.... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.10.45.38 (talk) 21:21, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

charity

[edit]

I cut: "What cannot be brought into question is the fact that the money; the proceeds from his famous book 'Annapurna' (an account of his first ascent of Annapurna in 1950) was given to an Alpine charity." _I_ bring it into question. If you can substantiate it, you can put it back. --Adam Brink (talk) 15:05, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

lawsuit against editor

[edit]

I have cut out: "On the other hand, the Herzog family pursued the book editor in lawsuit. Bringing proofs and old documents to certify genuineness of the original stories. The court decided it was too late to determine how things went 40 years after the death of Lachenal. The editor could not establish clearly any point of his controversy, lost the procedure and stopped publication of Carnet du Vertige." If you can establish this using sources you can put it back in. --Adam Brink (talk) 05:00, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

merge

[edit]

I have suggested that Annapurna (book) be merged to this article as the book article is apparently not notable enough for a Wikipedia article in its own context. -- Mikeblas (talk) 16:50, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Other Annapurnas

[edit]

I have undone the edit with respect to the famous quote at the end of his book being a reference to Everest. It isn't. --Adam Brink (talk) 17:45, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I thought the article wasn't very good. It wasn't very long and Maurice did a lot of intresting things.
