Afghanistan and Afghan people are basically Indian

[edit]

The mosque was really a HINDU TEMPLE, as Afghanistan was originally part of india and an important part of HINDUISM. All Afghan people were originally Hindu and to escape the persecution of Persians, Arabs and Moslems, they had to change many of the ancient Hindu temples into Shrines etc... this article needs to be changed.

Wrong...Afghanistan was the land of the Bactrian king Visthasp, where the Zoroastrian religion planted its roots and grew out from. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.137.31.93 (talk) 02:03, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Same as the Blue Mosque in the Mazari Sharif article?

[edit]

I see there are several images of a Blue Mosque in the Mazari Sharif article. Here's one, is it the same thing that this article is about? Manxruler (talk) 13:11, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, It is the same mosque —Preceding unsigned comment added by M. Ebrahim Fazly (talkcontribs) 17:46, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Shrine of AliBlue Mosque, Mazar-i-Sharif – This mosque being the shrine of Ali, according to the article, is only a local legend. This name is more prevalent and is used in other wikis, including Persian Wikipedia. Ali VII (talk) 18:52, 26 July 2018 (UTC) Ali VII (talk) 18:52, 26 July 2018 (UTC)--Relisting. Revision of the article

[edit]

Large parts of this article are poorly written or rely too much on non-WP:RS sources. In the coming weeks, I hope to try and improve the text a bit. I'd like to rewrite it. Hezbollaist (talk) 11:29, 20 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced stuff

[edit]

The article has a lot of unsourced stuff. Either someone can add sources to support a statement or I would have to simply remove the unsourced stuff or poorly sourced such as:

  • "some Sufi Sunnis believe contains the tomb of ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib"
  • "This site is visited particularly by Naqshbandi sufis."
  • "The first structure of the site dates back to the Seljuk era
  • "In the 13th century, the Mongols under Genghis Khan invaded Balkh, where they massacred the Balkhi population and destroyed their places of worship.
  • "Local legend relates that the Sultan and his assistants were digging in the area when they saw a tombstone reading "This is the grave of Asadullah Ghalib, the friend of Rasul Allah, Ali Waliullah" which the other people rejoiced upon seeing.

If anyone can add sources for this, please do so! AAAbbas (talk) 15:38, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
