Initial Phases

[edit]

Hi, WWGB. I'm currently editing it. Shall we take turns? Drakkenfyre (talk) 08:02, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also, you cleared out all the noob tags I was using. I kind of needed those for the next few minutes. Just FYI. Drakkenfyre (talk) 08:05, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hey guys. I'm not going to edit this any more, lest we have edit conflicts, but here's a source for you guys to use: http://www.cjob.com/News/National/Article.aspx?id=172638 75.154.101.86 (talk) 08:09, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well, don't go away. Let me edit until 1:25 MST (another ten minutes), then the next person can take a turn. Sound good? Drakkenfyre (talk) 08:16, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm having trouble figuring out how citation links work. If I post the raw data, would someone else be willing to put them in the correct format? I keep getting Cite Errors and I am now out of time. Drakkenfyre (talk) 08:30, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I ran out of time and so I have stopped editing. I will continue if no one else is editing, but I want to avoid edit conflicts. Thanks. Drakkenfyre (talk) 08:38, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Drakkenfyre, Don't worry about editing conflict too much. Wikipedia is pretty good in allowing you to edit individual section of the entry. And every single edit is kept so we can always look back to an older version to pull things if need to be.

Anyone has a photo of Michelle to use for the entry? There are a few good photos to use in the Facebook memorial group and at Michelle's own Facebook profile but I don't have the proper licensing authorization to use any of them. I don't want to upload something when it may be removed later due to copyright reason. – Kempton "Ideas are the currency of the future." - a quote by Kevin Roberts 19:38, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the advice. :) I've never started an article before, but Ms. Lang's life and death are pivotal in Canadian journalism, so it was important to get it going. And I now know more about what I don't know about Wikipedia. So thanks, too, to everyone for fixing the parts I didn't know how to even finish starting. You rock. :) Drakkenfyre (talk) 03:15, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You are doing well. I remember the first time I edited an article and then the first time I created an article, they seemed like daunting exercise at the time but they were also fulfilling experiences. Yes there are many things to learn but I am sure if I can learn the needed skills to edit, in time, you can learn them too. Good luck. Keep editing. – Kempton "Ideas are the currency of the future." - a quote by Kevin Roberts 20:53, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

References

[edit]

I'm waiting to make sure we're not in an edit conflict situation, so I would like to post the links I think we should use for sources.

Drakkenfyre (talk) 08:44, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There are numerous templates to use for references, which all format it properly, but I'm not sure where to find these. The simplest thing to do would be:

<ref name="AssignAName">[link "Link name"] ''[[Source]]''. Date published. Retrieved: Date retrieved.</ref>

Yeah, I found the templates at Template:Reflist, but I don't really get how to use any of them. Even in yours. What goes in the "Source" part? Thanks. Drakkenfyre (talk) 09:44, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Source would be like "The Canadian Press" or the "Calgary Herald" - linked appropriately if an article for it exists. 75.154.126.170 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 22:05, 31 December 2009 (UTC).[reply]
