A fact from Mikael Granlund appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 17 June 2010 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
hey, I just addded a line about the fact that Dinamo Minsk is officially claiming him, there is link to the article but in finnish.
I don't know if this is really relevant enough to be posted so, it is there waiting to be removed or modified by anyone who knows better.80.223.219.15 (talk) 12:01, 26 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'd say it is relevant - but what is the context? Did Minsk select him in the KHL draft, or do they claim to have signed him to a contract? Resolute16:26, 26 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Minsk did select him 41st overall in the 2009 KHL draft(http://www.thehockeynews.com/articles/26531-Mikhail-Pashnin-taken-first-overall-in-first-KHL-junior-entry-draft.html) but never really showed publicly any interest. In Finland, it has never been said anything about him in the KHL. On the contrary, it has been a year(2010-2011) with saying he would be in the NHL for 2011-2012.
After the publication of the article (the one used as reference) in a russian or bielorussain paper, he has announced he would remain in Finland for one year playing for HIFK to do his service and then join the NHL. I would guess that after the WC, and his goal in the semi, Minsk remembered they drafted him 2 years ago and they are now trying to use this to get him.
I don't know if Minsk can legally claim and sue anyone if he wouldn't join, as there are no regulation between the NHL and KHL(see Radulov case for that). 80.223.219.15 (talk) 07:05, 27 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
