Fluent in Chinese?

[edit]

Why do we say she became fluent in Chinese, and then say she "claimed" to speak very little Chinse when she was on Larry King? Wouldn't it make more sense to take her at her word? Just say "stated" rather than "claimed" which implies she was hiding he truth. And anyway how do we know she was really fluent? WHy not just say she studied Chinese rather than stating what level of proficiency she got to? Plenty of people do those one year classes and get nowhere near fluent.

Union Square

[edit]

Packed houses? According to imdb, the movie grossed less than $50,000 during its entire run. In other words, the phrase "packed houses" is a ridiculous distortion.

I'm guessing that section was written by Sorvino's agent. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.175.45.119 (talk) 06:00, 19 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

-- I took the liberty to remove all that stuff. That part was really embarrassing, spending ten times the words spent for Mighty Aphrodite to shamelessly praise an obscure movie and its director like it was Sorvino's defining career moment. It came directly from Nancy Savoca's page, which is a shameful piece of propaganda in itself. Kumagoro-42 20:00, 9 November 2014 (UTC)

Tarantino?

[edit]

The Tarantino page mentions a relationship with Mira, so this should be added. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Robotwisdom (talkcontribs) 13:01, 27 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

-- Done. I even found a better source than the one originally listed in Tarantino's page (replaced it there, too). Kumagoro-42 20:23, 9 November 2014 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kumagoro-42 (talkcontribs)

Picture

[edit]

That is a really lousy picture of a gorgeous woman, someone upload a pic where she doesn't resemble a lobster please. Dirk Diggler Jnr

Link for "Semana Sancta" will bring up not the movie page, but "Holy Week" page instead. I could not find a proper page for the movie. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.139.193.3 (talk) 01:11, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Beetle defensive compound

[edit]

Did you know there is a defensive compound in a diving beetle named in honor of MIss Sorvino? I shit you not. Check out this reference: Jerrold Meinwald, Qing Huang, Jan Vrkoč, Kithsiri B. Star Trek

[edit]

I heard from various friends that she's a big Trekkie. Is this true? CoffeeAddictMike 09:27, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It is. She was on Later with Carson Daly some time ago and he gave her a prop "phaser" from the original series. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.23.133.78 (talk) 16:40, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

House Joke

[edit]

In the career part am I the only one who noticed the "put on freeze" part, kinda funny as the episode she was in was called "Frozen". —Preceding unsigned comment added by Drek258 (talkcontribs) 21:27, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed it too before looking here. Such details add flavour to articles—although they are usually lost at some point during the evolution of an article. Still, good one. Waltham, The Duke of 18:15, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jake's Women

[edit]

Mira appeared with Alan Alda, Anne Archer, Lolita Davidovich, Julie Kavner and Joyce Van Patton in Neil Simon's Jake's Women — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.110.224.247 (talk) 17:31, 4 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Birth place

[edit]

The main body of the article and the infobox contradict each other about her place of birth, seemingly because there are contradictory sources. Should we go with one for consistency and make reference to the fact that there is some confusion? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tchanders (talkcontribs) 01:32, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for pointing this out. I don't believe that filmreference.com is a WP:RS, so we can discount the information it provides. IMDb is also not a reliable source for biographical information. It seems that the false information is spread out there enough that it is worth mentioning in the article. I just took it out completely. If anyone else wants to point out that there is confusion out there, feel free. But it should be clear from her own words in the interview that the Tenafly assertion is false. Harvey Weinstein harassment and blacklist

[edit]

It has been reported in the media, and it probably should be mentioned in the article at this point, but it needs to be supported by sources and links. I'm considering just deleting it, but it's been edited enough that it would likely just be reinstated without fixing it.

advanced degree

[edit]

There are rumors surrounding what Ms. Sorvino's degree entitles her to. I wasn't able to find if it's an MA or a doctorate but I assume an MA, Might be worth qualifying this as a recent spat on Twitter has raised this part of her considerable education. 81.97.100.208 (talk) 03:51, 7 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The thesis listed on this page is an undergraduate degree. She got an A.B. from Harvard with honors in 1989. Lee Creighton (talk) 00:45, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Although the link specifies "Semana Santa (film)", the link is redirected to the Holy Week page instead of the 2002 German film. If the link is corrected as "Semana Santa (2002 film), it appears in red as is the movie page did not exist (but it does) 87.124.250.201 (talk) 23:45, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
