Isn't the Las Huelgas Apocalypse a different manuscript?
[edit]The first sentence of the Contents section says that the Morgan Beatus (M.644) is also called the Las Huelgas Apocalypse, and cites a Morgan Library online exhibition. However, the exhibition references M.429 when it refers to the Las Huelgas Apocalypse. Furthermore, the exhibition says that the Las Huelgas Apocalypse is from c. 1220 when the Morgan Beatus is from the mid 10th century.
I wonder if a wikipedia author got confused and conflated the Morgan Beatus (644) with the Las Huelgas Apocalypse (429)? Is there something I'm missing? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Littleguy230 (talk • contribs) 22:53, 8 May 2017 (UTC)
Absolutely. Las Huelgas Beatus is a much modern codex (a. 1220, from the feminine monastery of Las Huelgas in Burgos). The Pierpont Morgan Library possesses two Beatus manuscripts: the "Morgan Beatus" or "Magius Beatus" or "San Miguel de Escalada Beatus", from the 10th century, and Las Huelgas Beatus (13th century). Moreover it possesses 7 folios of a copy made in the 17th century of an otherwise lost Beatus (Fanlo Beatus; Ms. 1079). --ReginaManresa (talk) 17:34, 23 June 2017 (UTC)
- By the way, the external links need also a revision; some of them go to pictures from Las Huelgas beatus --ReginaManresa (talk) 17:42, 23 June 2017 (UTC)
