-General Improvements-
Untitled
[edit]This article needs a lot of work done to it in order to be a successfully informational article on Wikipedia. I'm planning on adding a lot of information to the sub-sections that are very short and lacking in substance. I will also try and edit some of the material that is already added in order to make it more engaging and grammatically correct. Finally, I will try and add more substantial sources and cite the information as needed. Evaskills (talk) 23:49, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
Merge
[edit]This needs to be merged. The only difference is an accent.
Bicycle: Japanese derailers and crank sets
[edit]Original Research
[edit]It is clear that the various remarks regarding the use of Japanese derailleurs and crank sets are the opinion of the author or are opinions which have been copied from other places. Such opinions do appear to be common about the derailleurs -- specifically Simplex. However, they appear to be mostly from people that have not used them. IIRC, the Japanese crank sets used were almost exact copies of the French Stronglight crank sets. In both cases, it was my understanding at the time that the reason was that there was a shortage of the French parts.
Verification
[edit]IAC, it is quite clear that none of the statements about Japanese parts have any citations. These are clearly needed, especially if such negative statements about French equipment that many believe was some of the world's best at the time, or possibly for any time.
Sources
[edit]I suggest Velo Base that has some old Motobécane literature that could provide some information.
