The notability of this subject was difficult to assess, and I think it's a bit of a borderline case. The relevant notability guideline here is Wikipedia:Notability (events), and because the murder of Carol Bowne directly led to a substantive change in the laws of the state of New Jersey, it may be considered notable on the basis of WP:LASTING, which states that events are often notable if they are a catalyst for something else, such as a change in legislation.

On the other hand, the coverage of this particular murder in reliable sources appears confined to local news sources within the state of New Jersey, which raises doubt as to encyclopedic notability per WP:GEOSCOPE, which states that An event affecting a local area and reported only by the media within the immediate region may not necessarily be notable. There is admittedly some passing coverage in national sources like CNN [1], The Hill [2], as well as this full article in Fox News [3]. However, while these sources might be good to support new additions to the existing articles on Gun laws in New Jersey and Domestic violence in the United States, it's not 100% clear whether this is enough to justify a full standalone article. (If there are any of these high-quality national-scope sources I am missing, please feel free to add them to the draft and resubmit.)

Unfortunately, in the course of editing this draft, I removed a large portion of it that discussed domestic violence around the world in general, or gun laws in general. The information can still be obtained from the draft's revision history, but we should be careful not to turn this article into a "coat rack" of tangential subjects—see WP:COATRACK for more information. We should also be careful to avoid original research: all conclusions reached must be directly supported by their citations. On Wikipedia, synthesizing multiple sources to reach a conclusion not directly supported by any of the sources individually is prohibited. For example, I removed the citation to this IEEE source because it doesn't appear to relate to Bowne's murder or gun control at all.

All in all, my recommendation to the author would be to merge some of the information you wrote in this draft into existing articles on Wikipedia, such as Gun laws in New Jersey and Domestic violence in the United States. However, if you disagree with my decision not to publish this topic as a standalone encyclopedia, please feel free to resubmit the draft, and another reviewer will take a look. Importance[edit]

I think that given that gun control in the United States is highly political and Domestic violence is a level 4 vital article should tip the balance to keeping this article, since it impinges on both topics. While this article should primarily confine itself to the facts of the case, its impact on the broader issues should be discussed in other relevant articles and referred to by those articles. Having all the facts in one place ultimately saves duplication of a topic that would otherwise appear in multiple places. While I have rated it as low importance as a crime, it ranks as mid importance for New Jersey, in my opinion, because it was a catalyst for a change in the law. This article needs to be cleaned up.[edit]

This feels editorialized, uses some loaded language, and has questionable sources that make it feel more like a pro-gun argument than an objective article about a murder.
