I was not aware of the Sif article. I do not feel too strongly at this moment, just hope we don't go into a precedent of spending time creating character which will just get deleted. Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 19:15, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's on the edge, but there is actually a surprising amount of sourcing for discussion of the character (which is really the test of notability). Four substantial film appearances, including a major role in Avengers: Endgame that is distinct from GOTG involvement. The character is already confirmed for future appearances, so the ratchet will only keep turning up. BD2412T19:17, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
This could not possibly be deleted I feel per WP:GNG. The character is unique in the MCU as a villain-turned-hero, and there is more sourcing per WP:NEXIST that can definitely be included here. She's not just a background Guardian, but a character with a story arc in her own right, distinct from the other Guardians, which I feel makes her more notable than Rocket, Drax and Groot in terms of WP:RS. Yes I agree that it is only going to get more coverage, which is why I questioned whether it was too soon not whether it should have an article at all. Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 18:18, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Well, as I said, it's on the edge, but there are sources enough to put it over. I would note that there is a specific set of issues relevant to the MCU portrayals that inherently go beyond discussion of the comic book characters, including the process of casting the actor for the part; the makeup and special effects specifically applied to present that character on film; differences between the character as presented in the comic books and as presented on film; and critical reception to the actor's performance as the character, including awards and nominations. There are some MCU adaptations of the comic book characters for which we have very little of this information, but for this one we have all of it. BD2412T18:45, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that is alrighty then. I am not trying to attack articles on MCU characters, I just don't want to people to put in a lot of hard work for something to get deleted even though it would not have gotten deleted if the article was created later.
