Reasoning for edit
[edit]Recognizing that my most recent edit was sweeping and reverted parts this article to previous edit 1188894928, I felt it best to address the reasoning behind the reverted elements. To preface, I sincerely hope my edit does not discourage any editor from being bold and am totally open to beginning a discussion on any of these points.
Infobox
– Restored minor team and removed "Pro teams only" text
- Lopušanová is a junior player and is actively playing on a junior team, so we can’t remove all junior teams. I’m ambivalent about keeping a U16 team in the infobox and have no real opposition if there is consensus to remove the minor team – it was added prior to her joining Bishop Kearney.
- The use of "Pro" within the realm of women's ice hockey is fraught and best avoided entirely. There are only three leagues in the world that claim to be professional, i.e. pay all players a living wage, and Lopušanová has never played in any of them (PWHL, ZhHL, WCIHL). If we are to use "pro" as the metric for determining which teams to include for Lopušanová, the team-related parameters of the infobox would be left blank. If the intent was rather to indicate that only senior leagues be included, I find that a more reasonable threshold and refer to the previous point.
– Restored "Women's" in medal table
- See the examples section of Template:MedalTableTop. I’m emphatically against defining whockey as a separate sport but the "sport" parameter in medal templates could more accurately be described as a competition class parameter and should include gender when competition is separated as such. (I realize many articles for men's ice hockey players do not include "Men's" but they really should and we ought not use poor examples as a foundation to buck the existing standard.)
- In the spirit of abiding by the template standard, I also removed the EYOF medal because it is a not a senior competition.
Body
– Restore red links
- "In general, a red link should remain in an article if there is a reasonable expectation that the article in question will eventually be created (either as its own article or as a redirect); remove red links if and only if Wikipedia should not have any coverage on the subject." – WP:REDLINK
– Restore removed references
- This is a reflection of my inclusionist leanings but I don’t support the removal of any reference unless it is misleading or offers absolutely no additional information. That said, I won’t die on this hill.
Statistics
– Restore removed stats
- There is precedent for including minor and/or junior stats in instances where a player is notable for accomplishments in youth ice hockey (see Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid). Lopušanová's youth totals are remarkable and have contributed to people calling her a generational talent, as described in the body of this page. Consider if the inclusion of these statistics is providing a more wholistic representation of the player and if the same degree of understanding could be reached in their absence. If a desire to remove the statistics still exists, please establish greater consensus before doing so.
Awards and honors
– Remove "ref" column of table
- The "ref" column looks very clean and neat when there is only one date listed per award but serves to make references less precise as soon as more than one date is entered.

- No complaints here for most of these, except for two: the specification of women's tournaments in the international stats table and the ref column in awards.
- I would leave WW18 as U18, and specify gender only when a female player has played in a men's tournament. I feel it's a safe assumption that unless otherwise indicated, women would be playing women's tournaments and men would be playing men's.
- As for the refs column, if a player were to win an award in multiple years could each year not just have its own row?
- I'm pretty new to editing so if there are established standards here let me know and I'll defer to those. Wheatzilopochtli (talk) 02:14, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Wheatzilopochtli: Those are both sound points and I see no reason not to implement your suggestions. Spitzmauskc (talk) 13:26, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
