Episode list needs splitting

Layout

Howdy,

I want to suggest moving the whole theme song section under music as a subsection. This edit would make it looked more organized since the theme songs are really just music. Aestrada093 (talk) 03:43, 12 October 2020 (UTC)

Two TV series

Once the live-action series is released, currently on a page under the name "One Piece (upcoming TV series)", what will happen to the page names? Maybe name this one "One Piece (anime TV series)" and the other one "One Piece (live-action TV series)"? --BrookTheHumming (talk) 01:36, 28 March 2022 (UTC)

We could apply the Kakegurui – Compulsive Gambler case, with the name of both adaptations including the release year: Kakegurui (2017 TV series) and Kakegurui (2018 TV series). The issue, however, is that since this adaptation will be streamed on Netflix, technically it would not be a TV series. - Xexerss (talk) 01:50, 28 March 2022 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: Participants suggest the current title is likely PRIMARYTOPIC and must not be further disambiguated due to WP:RECENTISM. Not Moved (non-admin closure) >>> Extorc.talk 20:19, 14 January 2023 (UTC)

One Piece (TV series)One Piece (1999 TV series) – Incomplete disambiguation; see One Piece (upcoming TV series). 162 etc. (talk) 18:33, 7 January 2023 (UTC)

  • Oppose, I think the ongoing TV series is PRIMARY.--Ortizesp (talk) 06:39, 8 January 2023 (UTC)
  • Oppose per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. The current TV series is described in the article as the most-watched in the world; it is vastly more likely that this will be the expected destination for most searchers. -- Euryalus (talk) 08:59, 8 January 2023 (UTC)
  • weak support I feel like this probably meets WP:INCDAB standards, given that the Netflix show will probably be short-lived knowing Netflix, but too early to say for certain (maybe it'll be a big hit, who knows). I'd say even if it is moved, One Piece (TV series) can be kept as a WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT. Nohomersryan (talk) 17:32, 8 January 2023 (UTC)
  • Weak oppose While I am aware that this form of disambiguating is not ideal, I think it is warranted in this case. The page view ratio is currently about 3:1 in favor of this article, which is a lot though not as much as most of the entries at WP:PDABLIST. That being said, WP:PRIMARYTOPIC also includes long-term significance as a factor. Specifically, it states A topic is primary for a term with respect to long-term significance if it has substantially greater enduring notability and educational value than any other topic associated with that term. The fact that this series, despite beginning in 1999, still gets significantly more page views that the live-action suggests that it has a lot more enduring notability that the live-action Netflix series, which may also benefit from WP:RECENTISM. Now, is that enough to make this primary enough to not add the year into the disambiguation? That is debatable, but I believe it is. Link20XX (talk) 18:08, 8 January 2023 (UTC)
Support per nom and per WP:INCOMPDAB. This will be an incomplete disambiguation which does not help readers at all. Gonnym (talk) 11:25, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
  • Support the 1999 one has 65,393 views while the upcoming one has 21,377[[1]]. Though likely recentism partial disambiguation is not generally a good idea except in exceptional cases. Crouch, Swale (talk) 19:03, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
  • Oppose. The 1999 TV series has been one of the world's most widely consumed entertainment properties for decades, making it highly likely to be the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. While the pageview margins (monthly stats here) are narrower than would typically be advisable for an WP:INCDAB, I find it likely that the upcoming Netflix series has its views buoyed by WP:RECENTISM, and would advise against moving this article until the Netflix series has aired and we have a better understanding of its stable pageviews. One Piece (TV series)One Piece (1999 TV series) – or One Piece (animated TV series). Per WP:INCOMPLETEDAB. Wikipedia has a few topics that require disambiguation but are so dominant within a category that their titles use only partial disambiguation. This is the only one I'm aware of where a partially disambiguated topic name is considered primary even though a different topic has a higher number of recent pageviews. Four-and-a-half times as many, in fact. When this question was last discussed eight months ago, the 1999 series was still more popular to read about than the 2023 topic. That isn't the case anymore. The vast majority of people looking on Wikipedia for information about a TV series called "One Piece" are not looking for this topic. — BarrelProof (talk) 04:45, 17 September 2023 (UTC)

Support per nominator. It's a reasonable assessment given that both the live action show and the anime are treated as TV series, while it's likely true that the anime has more long term significance it's also highly likely that anyone seeing the current title is expecting a TV series of the live action variety because the name doesn't disambiguate live action and animated television shows.
