notability

[edit]

Why isn't this person notable enough and Azzam Azzam is? Counterboint (talk) 18:19, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for contributing. The tags says "may not be" not that he is not notable. Wikipedia:Notability (people) requires sources in independant 3rd party sources. Not being an expert on these issues, I would prefer to see more references. Azzam Azzam has 4 refs, 2 of them from news sources, one of them the BBC, so no doubt in my mind. Another reference from another source would be enough for this article, IMHO. Thanks again. --triwbe (talk) 18:33, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

One of the problems are that the other references I found are in Hebrew. The Jpost article seems to be the only one in English. Wikipedia's importance is also in bridging the language gap - bringing entries to the knowledge of English speakers even if they are unreported by English sources. I added the main Hebrew reference. Personally I accept non-english sources and I assume other editors, for example from Wikiproject Isreal, will check them. --triwbe (talk) 08:29, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
