Mandurah Line Information

A brief notice to those who persist in adding this information:

• Platform numbers have not been finalised or allocated, and this information would be subject to change as the station works plan for Perth includes the demolition of existing platforms once the new line is open.
• If the line is not operating, you cannot include it in the next and previous stations list in the article, and ditto for the infobox.

The new platform numbers are allocated on the Joondalup Line timetable, as the information of the timetable, the two new platforms are numbered platform 1 and 2, also the current platform 2 will be renumbered into platform 5. Could the platform changes on the page be made after they are actually made at the station, instead of before? We don't want to get ahead of the real world yet. Station layout

I have created a draft copy of Perth station's layout, inspired by pages from the Singapore MRT system (for example: Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station). If there is a consensus to add it in, then we could apply it to other selected stations as well, particularly interchange stations, more than 2 platforms, or those with multiple tracks running through. 리지강.wa.au _talk 10:13, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Perth Underground entrance photo

Could we consider getting a new photo of the Murray Street entrance, please? A new building has gone up above the entrance, and has been there about a year, making the current photo out of date. --Klltr (talk) 06:07, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

Suggested split....

All the categories for this article are for the old station building - not the underground and new modifications - I honestly think seeing we have the Not Guide(viz: WP:NOTGUIDE and all the painful detail of bus and train routes etg) crew modifying all the new station platform details, why there shouldnt be a split between the old structure as a separate article - and putting Perth Underground and the modified station as a new article - it would make sense as it wouldnt seem so contradictory to have a hole in a ground being blended in with heritage status... also the old structure as a separate article could also see more tying in with the horseshoe bridge and barrack street bridge articles... Currently this article implies, and in one place says, that Perth Underground Station is a part of Perth Station. I don’t think that is true (anymore) because Transperth themselves on their own website clearly show the two as distinct stations. They list them as stations in their own right, they talk about Perth Underground station alongside Perth station, their maps show both stations, and on the station maps they have directions to the other station.

Perhaps it was originally the intent to have them as one, but that clearly is no longer the case. I don’t blame them for (now) treating them as distinct, because it is way less confusing that way. {{Betterkeks (talk) 02:05, 8 May 2018 (UTC)

You are correct - (there may be still some other editors here watching this article talk page...) the unfailing repeated train station as opposed to the historically correct name of railway station - and the usage by transpoerth separate name of perth underground - does need a re-think as to the articles and how they might stand better in the 2018 (as opposed to 2013 or 50 years before that) context. The only thing that still binds the two stations are the shared platform numbering (I think). It’s a weird one. But essentially Perth Station is a railway station and Perth Underground Station is a special kind of railway station because it’s underground making it a subway or underground station.

I see what you mean about railway and train station. Trains travel on railways, busses on roads, planes through air, and some stations are shared by train and bus services. I did notice that Transperth and PTA haven’t come up with a consistent naming scheme. It’s Perth Station, Perth Underground Station (which is underground, so good name), Perth Busport (like airport, except air is the medium and bus the vehicle), Subiaco Station (which is underground), Elizabeth Quay Station (which is underground), Elizabeth Quay Bus Station (not Busport), Airport Central Station (which is underground), Redcliffe Station (which is underground), and Forrestfield Station (for both train and bus services). @JarrahTree: Betterkeks (talk) 01:40, 9 May 2018 (UTC)

Platform 9 changes as of 16 Dec 2013

As indicated in edit made by Benjamin "Jeffrey" Powell, could please anyone confirm if Platform 9 is where:

• Fremantle line arrives in this platform, and carrying through to Midland (thus Midland Line departs from this platform); and
• special events (such as Perth Royal Show) in Fremantle line departs from this platform

And I was like "What? One train goes to the east and the other one to the west in same platform?"

Platform 9 is now ONLY used for Midland Line services, and special services will depart in Platform 8. (since 16 Dec 2013)

Perth, Scotland

This article may be confused with Perth Station in Scotland. I would prefer it if it was moved to Perth Railway Station (Australia) with the old page name being taken by a disambiguation page. Thank you. 81.132.225.199 (talk) 09:31, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

Good point - probably best to see that the scottish station already has the qualifier of scotland in it - as there have been nasty and serious edit wars over the primacy over the word Perth. Also naming conventions in Australia - there is no 'Perth, Australia' - there is more than one, if it was to be changed - the appropriate qualifier would have to be Western Australia JarrahTree 11:28, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
