Regrettably, this was nominated nearly two months after it was listed as a Good Article, far too late to qualify for DYK. I'm sorry this wasn't realized sooner, including by myself when you first nominated it.

    • ALT1:... that the memorial (pictured) honoring Revolutionary War general Peter Muhlenberg in Washington, D.C. was not dedicated until October 26, 1980, 52 years after Congress authorized its construction?
  • Comment: I'd like to see about getting this a DYK on the 26th, if possible!

General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
  • Cited: Yes - Offline/paywalled citation accepted in good faith
  • Interesting: Yes
QPQ: None required.

Overall: WaPo is paywalled and I'm out of my monthly free articles. Everything checks out. NOTE TO PREP TEAM: Please set this up for October 26, 2019 as requested by the nominator. 3family6 (Talk to me | See what I have done) 03:20, 12 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, whoops: Approved for the first hook, which is shorter and more catchy.
I'm sorry to create a hitch, but I don't believe that the image is usable; "freedom of panorama" doesn't include works of art like the statue in the monument, or even monuments themselves, which I think do have their own copyright. (Buildings are a different matter.) Pinging Nikkimaria, who if she doesn't know, would probably know who would. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:28, 12 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, it does appear that you are right Commons:FOP US. Thank you!--3family6 (Talk to me | See what I have done) 19:00, 12 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Agree, the image likely cannot be used on the main page, although potentially a case for fair use could be made within the article. Nikkimaria (talk) 01:44, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If the image is removed from the hook, I can approve it. @Rockhead126:.--3family6 (Talk to me | See what I have done) 22:21, 20 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The nominator hasn't responded, I'm happy with approving this hook without an image. if image is removed.--3family6 (Talk to me | See what I have done) 13:12, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the delay. Sounds good to me. Rockhead126 (talk) 17:29, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • This article received a GA icon on August 6, nearly 2 months before the nomination was made. This does not satisfy DYK rules of nominating within 7 days, or even 2 weeks for a new nominator. Yoninah (talk) 22:24, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
