Nesting
[edit]I don't think trumpeters nest on the ground. I've seen footage of pale-winged trumpeters nesting in trees.
- Actually, on the grey winged trumpeter page it says they nest in trees. So I guess you're right. Robin Chen 06:48, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Trumpeter (bird) → ? – Current title does not sufficiently disambiguate with Trumpeter (pigeon) and Trumpeter swan. Not a bird expert, so I'm looking for ideas on an appropriate title. 162 etc. (talk) 20:56, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
- Possibly "tropical bird", but with only two other possibilities, the hatnote is really sufficient, especially since trumpeter swans are rarely called just trumpeters. Station1 (talk) 22:33, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
- Arabian Trumpeter, Bokhara Trumpeter, Dresden Trumpeter, Altenburger Trumpeter, English Trumpeter are all birds. 162 etc. (talk) 23:07, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
- They are all pigeons. Like the swan, none would be titled simply Trumpeter. Anyone searching for a specific breed would click on Trumpeter (pigeon), where all these are listed. Station1 (talk) 23:17, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

- Move to Psophiidae (which already redirects here and has for 18 years): There are (at least) five different trumpeter bird articles involved here, including Trumpeter finch and Trumpeter hornbill, which aren't pigeons. This is a relatively low-traffic article (about 15 pageviews per day). Among the three topics identified by the proposer, Trumpeter (bird) gets about the same number of page views as Trumpeter (pigeon), so it isn't even primary over that. The pageview counts for Trumpeter finch and Trumpeter hornbill are also about the same. Trumpeter swan gets more than 25 times the number of page views, so any ambiguity with that is a problem. There is no overwhelmingly primary bird topic here, and the hornbill is also a tropical bird. — BarrelProof (talk) 00:04, 28 April 2021 (UTC)

- Move to Psophiidae — the scientific name is always unambiguous. This does mean that the old title should be a WP:INCOMPDAB redirect to Trumpeter (disambiguation). –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 04:31, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
