Fair use rationale for Image:Mr Ray Price.jpg[edit]

Image:Mr Ray Price.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Leonard McRight[edit]

Little known Leonard McRight contributed to the words and music for the song "Hey la la" which was preformed by Bob Dylan (see here). Maybe we should add Leonard McRight to the "Associated acts" section of his infocard? I am a grandson of Leonard McRight so I am biased. What do you think? He is still performing non-Gospel songs[edit]

He appeared at Knuckleheads Saloon in Kansas City, MO on May 21, 2010 for an entirely secular show.K8 fan (talk) 22:17, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

His VOICE[edit]

I don't follow country music particularly, but I have to think that there are some notable sources which describe Price's singing voice. This is what's currently missing from the article, any real description of his (in my opinion) superb abilities as a singer. Badmintonhist (talk) 07:13, 27 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

To that end, I added a quote (with a reference) from Merle Haggard. It's not quite what you asked for, but it starts to approach it. --GentlemanGhost (converse) 00:02, 17 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sept. 28th[edit]

In the article it states he performed until his late 80's. I think it should mention he performed through most of 2013 or at least state that his last performance was September 28, 2013 in Regina, Canada. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.11.136.240 (talk) 19:41, 16 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Perryville or Peach?[edit]

The Rolling Stone (premature) obituary says that he grew up in Peach, Texas, not Perryville.[1] Peach is now a ghost town[2], but if that is indeed where he was born, then it seems like we should list that. I'm not sure how close Perryville is to Peach's location, but at least they are both in Wood County, Texas. --GentlemanGhost (converse) 23:30, 16 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Death Notice[edit]

I removed a death date from the article, as it was based upon premature information. As of my writing this, Ray Price is apparently alive, though he is not in good health. For more information, see this article. Here is a screenshot of the rolling stone page I am referencing. http://i.imgur.com/k5r2xA5.png

Here is the actual page. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/ray-price-dead-at-87-20131215 It may change shortly, hence the screenshot. Palehorse864 (talk) 04:35, 16 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrite/Expansion, Birthplace[edit]

I've started a major rewrite and expansion of the article. It came to light during my researching that there are/were multiple towns in Texas called "Perryville". The one in Worth County was not his correct birthplace, but rather his family farm near the now-defunct village of Perryville in Cherokee County. Thus his nickname The Cherokee Cowboy. I've also added some inline citations, as per box request. More work coming soon. Sector001 (talk) 21:03, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I am from Wood County, Texas. Ray was born in Wood County in the community of Peach which is just a few miles west of what is now Perryville. Peach is no longer there. His family is all buried in the Perryville Cemetery. Ray's Grandfather James MM Price was an early settler of the area. Here are some helpful links from the Texas State Historical Association and find a grave.
You can verify this with Eddie Stubbs of radio station WSM Nashville. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JohnnyBob60 (talkcontribs) 00:06, 29 March 2014‎
Thank you, JohnnyBob60. I'm not sure if findagrave.com counts as a reliable source, which is what we have to use to verify information. (A phone call to Mr. Stubbs wouldn't count for our purposes, unfortunately.) The Texas State Historical Association probably counts as a good secondary source, though. By any chance did any of the local papers run an obituary which clarified his birthplace? That's something we could use as a reference. I would think that the local newspapers would have a better idea of the difference between Peach and Perryville than a big city newspaper from out of state does. Most of the big papers just said "Perryville" without even specifying which Perryville. Also, there was no Wikipedia article for Perryville, Texas, so I created a stub which informs people that there were actually three different communities in Texas named Perryville. It's not my area of expertise, though, so if you could add anything to it, I would be very appreciative. Thank you, GentlemanGhost (converse) 05:18, 29 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
