[edit]

Thanks much for posting this. I'm a big Rayman fan and haven't been able to find any decent news on Rayman 4 on the major gaming sites.

You're welcome. :)
I was wondering if the second paragraph is necessary any more? I suppose extra information can't really do much harm.
(Added note about Ubisoft's release date policy).

Requirements

[edit]

One question, I live in Europe, and I'm wondering what kinds of controllers are needed to play all of the RRR minigames?

Image

[edit]

Is that Wii image the only picture available? It doesn't seem like the ideal image to use for a multi-platform title. --Optichan 19:02, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's some kids idea of a joke about the Wii. It has nothing to do with the game. --Thaddius 15:57, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rabbit saying 'Wiiiiiii!!' Screenshot

[edit]

Who keeps putting that up? Is it even a real screnshot? It looks like someone made it to make fun of the Wii. Can someone provide a link, proving that this is an actual pic from the game? (It's clearly not a screenshot too) --Thaddius 11:52, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed, it's not from the Ubisoft website itself. --anonymous user (17:27, 26 May 2006 83.118.22.146)
Then I hope no one minds if I delete it. --Thaddius 15:35, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, i'm pretty sure it is a legit image created by Ubisoft. But in any case, there is no need for it in this article. --Quadraxis 19:31, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think it is because Ubisolft wanted to focus more on the Wii then the other versions acording to an interveiw with Nintendo Power.

Response to the trailers

[edit]

I spend some time on a number of Wii-related websites, such as www.nintendowiifanboy.com, and i think it'd be nice to note the response of many people to the trailers for this game. (Usually the response is along the lines of "So demented...so amazing. I Wiily want to play that!" (not an actual quote)) -Quadraxis 19:31, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rabbids is a Wii exclusive?

[edit]

From a GoNintendo article, where they pointed out some things from the new issue of Nintendo Power:

UPDATE 5: Michel Ancel on Rayman Raving Rabbids and Wii: “(Wii) It’s so different from the other consoles that we decided to reconsider everything…We believe in the Wii and building gameplay around the controller. So now we are designing Raving Rabbids specifically (It’s an EXCLUSIVE!) for the Wii. It’s not just an adaptation. It’s a very special project, because this is really a revolution for us. Now we have to focus on one version - the Wii version.”

UPDATE 6: Xavier Poix on Rayman Raving Rabbids and Wii: “The more we heard about the Wii, the more interested we became. Then when we got our development kits, we knew that everything we dreamed of doing on this was possible. That’s why we changed our minds. We decided, ‘Ok let’s just focus on Wii’. That’s it. The other (versions) can come later.”

It kinda sounds like they're making the game for Wii only... Hmm? --BPM 22:34, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think RaymanZone website says that Raving Rabbids will also be out for other platforms, including PCs. Maybe the Wii version will just come out first. Although in the demo videos I have watched of Rayman Raving Rabbids, the players were only playing it on a Wii. --Idont Havaname (Talk) 03:37, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It could just mean exclusive as in not for Playstation or Xbox... --Quadraxis 23:58, 24 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds like the Wii is the only version being made at this time, and after the game is complete, they'll work on other versions of the game. It's quite possible that since all the next gen systems will be out by then, the current gen systems won't see a port of this game; and if the game uses the Wii's unique abilities very extensiviely, it may be too difficult to bother with porting this game to any other ssytem, or it may have to be altered so much that the port essentially becomes "Rayman Raving Rabbids 2". Either way, the Wii is the only system that is definitely getting it. -- VederJuda 21:19, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand why someone keeps editing it to say its available for most consoles. As far as we know, it is Wii exclusive. Please stop editing it until we have more info. -- Ferak2k 6:14. 15 August 2006 (UTC)

Hasn't anyone read in the Nintendo Power magazine that said that there is a DS and GBA version? As for the PS2 title, I will have to look that up. --Voxxdude 23:09, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have Concluded that Rayman Raving Rabbids is on only the following systems: Nintendo DS, GBA, Playstion2, Wii, and PC. It is not on any other system. You can find this out on the new raymanzone website.--Voxxdude 23:36, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No Voice Acting?

[edit]

"Characters will not have the voice acting that was first used in Rayman 3. Instead, it will return to the subtitled gibberish spoken in Rayman 2." May I ask the source for this?

This is from the Nintendo Power interview with Michael Ancel. --Quadraxis 13:31, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do "Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" and "Ahhhhhhh!" count as voice acting? :-D Geekrecon 20:05, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Credits show voice acting, being someone acting as a something"Popo" rabbid. I don't have my RRR copy right now, so can someone confirm this?

Questionable launch information

[edit]

Some of those dates look odd, and I don't think they are going to release Gamecube and Playstation 2 versions.Tuesday42 20:41, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rayman love interest?

[edit]

I cant find any kind of screenshot about the rayman like character whos gonna be a possible love intrest? any one having any screenshot?

Picture alternative

[edit]

Wouldn't the Wii cover of the game be a better picture? The console version ( probably the "main" version), as Micheal Ancel said, being devoleped for the Wii and then alternate versions made for other consoles. Any thoughts? Related, I still don't think that there is going to be a PS2 version.Tuesday42 21:12, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you can find a good quality version of it, then please. Wii is definitely the primary platform for RRR, we just had poor quality box of the Wii version. JackSparrow Ninja 02:04, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I couldn't find one, but I did find a nice one of the logo, which I rushed to upload, which was pretty idiotic of me, since I remembered one on this page before and I haven't uploaded a picture before. Ah, well, here it is anyway.
File:Rayman Raving Rabbids Logo.jpg
The uploader of this file (me) should have thought before uploading this.

It would be preferable to have a box cover of the game, but I'm skeptical as to whether there will be PS2 version, I would assume there will be a PS3 version.Tuesday42 15:16, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rayman pants/legs?

[edit]

Hasn't anyone noticed that Rayman has pants? If you look closely in the Bunny Very Useful Scientific Facts, while rayman's pants move along as if he has legs crontrolling the movement of them. On the cover, he also has pants while in regular form. But in his gothic form in the E3 trailer, he doesn't have pants.--Voxxdude 22:59, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

360 version?

[edit]

This game is listed in the list of 360 games. I don't think I read anything about a 360 version in the works. Could someone check? If there is no 360 version, someone needs to delete it from the list of 360 games. --LiK 16:25, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, it is not. Either the site you saw was posting a rumour, or simply it just hasn't been recently updated. As I said earlier, it is only on the Nintendo DS, GBA, Wii, and Playstation 2. If there is a 360 version, they would've put it up on the official Rayman Raving Rabbids website.Voxxdude 20:35, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies. Rayman Raving Rabbids is also on the PC version.Voxxdude 20:37, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed it from the Xbox 360 game list. I'll go check and see if it's on the PC game list.Voxxdude 20:41, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Great, thanks. --LiK 15:32, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

hi, i found this scan of Rayman Raving Rabbids from a Spanish (?) magazine, if u look at the logo's you can see it is also on xbox 360. http://www.ngcfrance.com/images/news/wii/rayman_raving_rabbids/pub_papier_espagnole.jpg , Erik

Did you ever find the logo of Xbox 360 on the Raving Rabbids website? if not, then it isn't for the 360.--Voxxdude 23:36, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry if this is a little late, but yes, there is a 360 version (PS Voxx is still Voxxdude)--~Voxx 20:53, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rayman japanese Wii releasedate

[edit]

I looked at the releaselist on Nintendo's Japanese official website and i saw that Rayman Raving Rabbids is releasing on December 14 for Wii in Japan, it's called Rabbids Party (ラビッツ・パーティー) in Japan, here's the link to the page: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/software/lineup/index.html

, Erik

I already put it in the infobox, if that's alright , Erik

Now Available

[edit]

Since the game is now available for purchase (I know because I've already picked mine up), I've removed the "Future Game" listing and adjusted the US release date accordingly. Cyberlink420 16:01, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I would love for that to be added to the article if anyone has anything. Maybe there are some manual scans or something that could help? Knuckles sonic8 15:23, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, I could do that. At elast, as long as the release date stops getting changed from the 15th to the 19th. Constantly changing that back is getting quite annoying. Cyberlink420 19:50, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Who Keeps Doing That?!

[edit]

Someone keeps changing the US release date to the 19th when it's supposed tobe the 15th. Whoever's doing that, please stop. Cyberlink420 22:22, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It is released on the 19th.

I bought it on the 15th. 68.102.160.254 20:52, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reviews

[edit]

Nintendo Power gave it a 7.5 I think that should be in there70.59.114.43 17:56, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'll add it. I actually have an issue in my possession right now - Dec 06. Know which issue you found the review you're referring to? Knuckles sonic8 21:18, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Was Ancel even involved?

[edit]

This game was touted as Michel Ancel's return to the Rayman franchise. Yet looking at the credits of the game, he's only down for 'Based on a world and characters created by Michel Ancel and Frederick Houde'- not much different to his credit in Rayman 3, of which he wasn't involved in at all. (He also turns up in character design, probably for sketching the original rabbid character.) There was quite a bit of reshuffling and changing of direction during the development of this title (the previews back at E3 point towards it being a platformer), and perhaps it took some of the original team with it. Did Ancel oust himself due to dissatisfaction of the game's development? Who knows, but he sure didn't end up as an integral member of Raving Rabbids' team.

Am I missing something here, or should the comments informing Ancel leading the development of this game be removed? 143.238.253.58 15:49, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Good question, but he was giving interviews about it, so I guess he WAS involved to at least some extent. Plus, if he designed the rabbid character, that's prolly more than instrumental, given the success of the thing. // Gargaj 12:09, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Well, there is evidence to suggest (as another put it) that he was involved with Rayman 4, but it is not certain that this game is the final outcome of that project. He did mention in interviews Wii-exclusive mini-games in Rayman 4 which sound as though they are the same as those in Raving Rabbids. However, early trailers for Rayman 4 clearly depicted platforming levels, something obviously not in the final project. A Nintendo Power interview revealed that Ancel promised the final game will be 'generously sprinkled' with platforming levels. Rayman Raving Rabbids contained no such levels. Around the time of E3 the Wii launch title game was no longer called Rayman 4 but Rayman Raving Rabbids. Note that all previous installments in the Rayman series have had a title saying Rayman--and the game number--and a subtitle. Ancel also mentioned in later interviews platforming aspects such as using the Wii remote for ground-pounds. My theory is that this game is not the real Rayman 4, but a product of several aspects of the project released early to build hype for the real game, making Raving Rabbids actually a Gaiden, or side story, game.

Based on the above comment, I suggest we begin a full discussion about whether or not to keep refering to Rayman Raving Rabbids as Rayman 4. For the time being, we should hold the two as different games and seperate articles on Rayman 4 from those articles refering to Raving Rabbids. May I remind you, I have heard many places refer to Rayman 4 as synonymous with Rayman Raving Rabbids, citing wikipedia as a source. There is so much ambiguity on the subject, they should be seperarted. I will email Ubisoft and get their official word on the issue.--Quentis 05:54, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cultural Reference Change

[edit]

It was recently stated the Raymaninho costume was a reference to Ronaldinho, though actually it seems as a reference to Cicinho, no. 11 in the Brazilian Football Selection. I am changing it for now until someone gives me the real reference to, as I don't find it.

  • Then again, what source do you have for picking Cicinho instead of Ronaldinho? And why does it 'seem' to be a reference to Cicinho? I think internationally more people have heard from Ronaldinho. (And you have to admit, it's not Cicinho on the Fifa '06 cover...) - Jelle564 18:22, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Release info

[edit]

The Wii, Playstation 2, and gameboy advance versions of this game are already out, I saw them at Walmart. a Nintendo DS and a Xbox 360 version were at least planned because I saw a display of the game at Gamestop that said these versions were coming out. These two versions may have been cancelled or they will release at a later date.

Weasel words? Where?

[edit]

The Reception section is labeled as weaselish, even though everything is pretty factual - all of the points were taken from the IGN and Gamespot reviews. Is there a point of labeling it this way? Sure, the wording might imply weaseling but there is none... // Gargaj 12:12, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Glitches

[edit]

Can we add a section to the article that says some of the glitches in the game? I know of a few glitches for the North American Wii version of the game that I could add to the article. For example, if you pause the game during the dancing minigame when blue bunnies and yellow bunnies are on the screen at the same time, the blue bunnies will turn into yellow bunnies while the game is paused. User:MariofanDS 10:10, 24 January 2007

Also, if you hit the "Home" button during a dancing mini-game, the music will become out of sync. But that sort of thing is much better suited for a site like GameFAQs. The Mu 02:19, 1 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Correct, unless the information's quite well-sourced and common knowledge. We're not supposed to be a substitute for Ubisoft's tech support site. The PC version has some glitches too, especially in the dancing games; in some of the games (Bunnies Dansa La Samba parts 1 and 2 come to mind) the bunnies never show up at all, and Rayman's just sitting there doing his regular dance moves and not responding to input. --Idont Havaname (Talk) 13:35, 1 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Release dates

The release dates for different versions (Wii, PS3 etc.) are extremely varied.

DS Version?

[edit]

I came here looking for info on the DS version (mainly gameplay, minigames if any, differences with the Wii version and if it's compatible with the Wii version), but it only mentions briefly that it was released. I think that info would help improve the article. Vicco Lizcano 15:50, 18 April 2007 (UTC) (Hey! Listen!)[reply]

    * 75 Story Mode Mini-Games
    * 2 Game Modes
    * 7 songs
    * 10 Secrets
    * Multiplayer
    * Co-op

What exactly is that supposed to mean? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nosferatu5 (talkcontribs) 20:29, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think secrets are hints, to help you get to certain parts of the game, although I'm not sure entirely...

Designer

[edit]

Michel Ancel is not the lead the designer of the game that made it to the shelves. According to the credits listed here, he is only credited for "Based on an original world by" and "Character design", not game design. It's true, however, that Ancel was the designer when the game was announced, but he surely wasn't when the game was released. --MrStalker talk 16:18, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Plan9 is not a "Hypothetic" OS, but a real OS used in production and more. It's not because it's not one of the three main OS that it is "hypotetic" & "futurist" It's more older than a lot of OS that we commonly use...212.157.49.165 11:15, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unecessary Lead Info

[edit]

I find the text concerning Michel Ancel and is involvement with King Kong a little irrelevant to the topic of the article. It should probably be deleted, and it also lacks citations and verification. firenze127 (talk) 00:48, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Additionally, the statement "The game consists of more than 70 “trials” (minigames) which aim to make innovative and varied use of the unique Wii controller" seems like a violation of WP:WEASEL as I am certain several people would disagree with the above statement from the article. firenze127 (talk) 00:59, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
