File:Rockstar 002.jpg Nominated for speedy Deletion

[edit]
An image used in this article, File:Rockstar 002.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Copyright violations
What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request

Requested move

[edit]
The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: moved by Anthony Appleyard (talk · contribs) as part of a histmerge. (non-admin housekeeping closure) Jenks24 (talk) 04:24, 4 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Rockstar (2001 film)Rockstar (film) – Page was moved by a user Madvirgin, which is potentially a vandalized move, i have cut-pasted the article, but want to be moved with page history, hence i request to move this article. Karthik Nadar (talk) 16:46, 2 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Comment I don't believe it is vandalism but a mistaken attempt to move it to Rockstar (2011 film) - which is a redirect page. I asked for that to be deleted to make way for this film earlier today but an administrator has not got round to that yet. The Rockstar (film) article was changed to redirect it to a DAB page to distinguish it from Rock Star (2001 film). noq (talk) 18:22, 2 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
To clarify, that would leave us with
Certes (talk) 22:54, 2 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks to Karthikndr, Anthony Appleyard and everyone else who has helped to sort this tangle out. Before we close, if no one objects, I shall boldly move the redirect page Rockstar (2001 film) to Rockstar (2011 film), together with the corresponding Talk: redirect. In my opinion, the 2011 name is a plausible search term but the 2001 one isn't, because the film has no connection with 2001. I have altered the few links from article space which used to point to either page. I'll also divert the final redirect Rockstar (2010 film) to point to Rockstar (film) rather than the disambiguation page. I'll fix the hatnotes once the similar move request Talk:Rock Star (2001 film)#Requested move has closed. Certes (talk) 13:02, 3 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

As the 2001 and 2011 redirects have been deleted, I'll cut a corner and speedy Rockstar (2010 film) too. Certes (talk) 23:04, 3 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

Outcome of requested move

[edit]

A number of changes were made whilst the requested move was pending. The situation as at 21 October 2011 is:

All incoming links seem to point to the right places, and the deletion of Rockstar (film) has removed the main target to which new links were being misdirected. Certes (talk) 18:20, 21 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Rockstar : Requesting revision of the Story Page

[edit]
  • Suggestion Delete the elaborated story of the movie. The movie is barely 1.5 weeks old. Suggest adding a brief synopsis (taken from original research or a short review from a trusted Bollywood magazine).

If the full story can be put up, do not allow incorrect versions to be put up.

>> The opening scene is NOT from Prague (as stated in the story here) but from Arena di Verona (Verona Arena), Italy. You can clearly see the arena in the panned out shot, a la Colosseum. Besides, when the thugs attack the hero, they speak in Italian "Figlio di Bastardi" (son of a b*stard, or colloquially, son of a b*tch) and not in Czech.

>> The grammar and syntax in the article is horribly inadequate.

Pinturicchio07 (talk) 05:22, 21 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I had written the plot section, tough had written self handed, had used certain sources like Rediff for reference purposes, which too says the film opens in Prague. If confused, we must accept what source says as per WP:OR. If you comment that the grammar and syntax in the article is horribly inadequate, I would invite you to contribute. -- Karthik Nadar (talk) 10:54, 21 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Have you seen the movie ?? I don't think you have. Besides, if you want proof, here:

IMAGE :: http://www.venetograndtour.com/upload/image/arena_di_verona_veduta_aerea.jpg (this is pretty similar to the aerial shot they showed at the start of the movie). Besides, I have been to Verona and visited this arena myself, though I am sure that my personal accounts do not matter.

REVIEW :: http://allfeatures.blogspot.com/2011/11/rockstar-movie-review.html (much more authentic review)

As it stands, I again reiterate, it'd be much better if a short synopsis of the movie be uploaded so as to not ruin the element of surprise for the public who have not (yet) seen the movie. Or we could attach a "spoilers" tag alongside the "plot".

If, however, you'd like me to contribute to the plot, I'd be happy to contribute.

Pinturicchio07 (talk) 06:28, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Been a fan of Imtiaz Ali, I went for the film first day first show. And ya, I never restricted you to contribute to the plot. You are always welcome to contribute, that's what Wikipedia is all about . However, keep in mind, plot section can't be too short or too long. But it must cover the movie as a whole. -- Karthik Nadar (talk) 09:04, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have edited numerous articles before (the article about the Italian football player "Alessandro Del Piero" has been 95+ % written and re-edited by me), but I used to do that without an account. Since I just recently signed up, I cannot edit this article.... I can, however, send you a draft of my article, and you can put it up (since I can see that you edited the first sentence of the plot on my suggestions).

Pinturicchio07 (talk) 10:49, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I won't mind putting it up unless the draft is copy paste from any website. -- Karthik Nadar (talk) 11:13, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sure.... I'll send it to you.... Problem is, where do I send it ?? Pinturicchio07 (talk) 12:56, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Come to my userpage, find a option on left side called "Email this user", click on the link and mail me. -- Karthik Nadar (talk) 13:33, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Suggestion: the story provided here is wrong and after seeing the movie I am quite sure it needs some editing. first of all the name Jordan is not given to him before heer leaves but when she introduces him to her friends for the first time, although I believe this is too much detail and the story should be more brief, secondly he shifts to a dargah and never to a ″temple to sing bhajans″ he sings bhajans while in refuge in the house of khatana's home. thirdly Ustaad Jameel Khan is a padam bhushan awardee not bharat ratna! fourthly Jordan meets heer after she has already come back to India to her parent's house and not before that, so when mandy heer's sister talks to Jordan, heer is already sick in bed in India and not in Prague! fifthly when the media catches heer and jordan together they are not coming back to India from prague but rather in Himachal,India for a concert of Jordan, stating she is coming from prague will rather cofuse the viewer and quite misleading and also another unnecessory detail that should not be included in the storyline. too much detail.--Avitravis (talk) 01:38, 26 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Avitravis, I request you to watch the movie again. I know the plot of the film is to confusing, but watching second time will surely help you out. The another thing is, we cant have the plot as a whole in Wikipedia as per WP:PLOT. Thanks :)-- Karthik Nadar (talk) 16:28, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Reviewer: Secret of success (talk · contribs) 08:16, 4 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I shall be reviewing this article, under the belief that though I have copy-edited it to a large extent, I do not qualify as a major contributor due to zero-content input. There have been no major issues after the GA nomination, except for a bit of prose faults, which have now been patched up. Initially, quite a few issues persisted which can be found in the peer review, but a thorough copy-edit fixed it all up and it is my apprehension that the article qualifies as a GA and satisfies all points of the GA criteria. With that understanding, I shall pass it. GA Reassessment

[edit]
This discussion is transcluded from Talk:Rockstar (2011 film)/GA2. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the reassessment.

The plot is too long and is also poorly written. It needs to be trimmed and copy edited by someone who has seen the film. AIRcorn (talk) 01:10, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Comment @Aircorn: Just because the plot is too long and poorly written, the complete article should not be taken for a review. Mention if you have any other concerns. Btw, I have not seen the movie myself nor associated with this article by any means. - Vivvt (Talk) 18:42, 1 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Prose is criteria 1a so it is a valid reason to review. I have not seen the the film either so it makes it difficult for me to trim the plot myself. This is exacerbated by the fact that the prose is so poor I could not work out what was meant. AIRcorn (talk) 19:40, 1 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Harshrathod50 and Vivvt: I will be away for two weeks soon so if you have any further questions you can let me know in the next few days. I will look at closing this when I return. Apart from the plot there are issues with the reception section. Currently it is a bit of a WP:quote farm. You might like to look at Wikipedia:Copyediting reception sections for a better idea on how to write these. Cheers AIRcorn (talk) 01:29, 18 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If pedestrian writing is the only issue this GA has, we can just have the article copyedited by the Guild of Copy Editors. Patience, Slightlymad (talk) 12:06, 29 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • There seems to be some misunderstanding with how this process works. If it just needed copyediting then I would do it myself as I have for many other poorly written articles. The trouble is that I can't as I have not seen the film and the prose is so bad that I am struggling to make out what the plot is trying to say. The reassessment has been open for over a month and little progress has been made to the plot. The tag itself has also been on for nearly a year now. Being delisted is not a big deal, it just loses the green spot. It can be nominated again easily enough once the issues are sorted. I will not wait for a copy edit from a guild and am thinking at this stage that the best option is to delist to allow editors time to work on it without a reassessment hanging over the article. AIRcorn (talk) 11:02, 5 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delisted Still more work needed. Feel free to renominate at WP:GAN when you feel it is back up to standard. AIRcorn (talk) 08:10, 13 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
